Our seventh grade teacher was Miss Halladay, who has now changed her name to Mrs. Hapner. She remained to teach us during our eighth grade. Everyone will remember when we took our eighth grade test, because we took it a day earl- ier than we had planned. It was such a surprise, that we d1dn't have time to be nervous. On the test Joe Graham got first place, Anna Dill got second place and Patty Wilt third place. We were now on our way to high school. Our freshman year in high school was a very memorable year. NkLMcNemar was our class advisor. We had 19 members, among them were Wilbur Bevins, Jack Collins, Florence Garber, Paul Ayette and Forest Archie. On initiation day we came to school all dressed up. The girls wore their dresses wrong side out and backwards, no makeup, a lot of jewelry, hair in braids. The boys wore makeup, no shoestrings, shirts wrong side out and backwards. The initiation party was held at Helen Lowenslager's home. Mrs. McNemar was our class advisor during our sophomore year. Gloria Stevens came back to finish her school years. Another new student, Mary Fellers entered our class. We ordered our class rings the latter part of the year and were very anxious to receive them. When we came back in the fall to start our junior year, we found some new teachers one of them was our advisor, Mr. Frazer. We also received our class rings the first day, of which we were very proud. Some of our classmates had left us during the summer vacation. Our play was given November 19: it was, 'NOW Y0U'RE TM-KING . Everyone will remember what fun we had getting the play ready for presentation. After our play was over, two classmates left our group, Juanita Lindamocd, who decided to get married and soon afterwards Betty Laux chose the same course. But Bob Shields came to take his place among our class. We sold things at the basketball games, and everyone enjoyed doing that very much. Then we took the seniors on a trip, May 13, to Cincinnati. In the fall of '47, we came to take our seats by the windows, for which we had been striving for a long time. Our class advisor was Mrs. Lanich. We had our pictures taken on November 5rd, 1947, and received them on December 19. We cho ae our class play, the name was THE NIGHT OWL : it was given on April 16,E This last year was tinged with sadness by the thought of leaving the teach- ers with whom we had become such friends, and the dear old High School itself. It was at that time that I made my resolve always to wear my class colors on the anniversary of my graduation day. So, although I have forever Ieft the dear place in person, I always feel myself part of it in spirit on each ann1versay.' As he concluded, the old man gazed fondly at his class colors, and ssging him thus lost in memory, I bade him a kindly farewell and went on my way. 141'
