ina On Tuesday morning, September 2, 1947, school opened for the first day of a bright new term. First thing we students saw that we will all remember was a brand new superintendent, Mr. Innis. All of us had refreshed minds, different books, and new opportunities so things really began to happen. These incidents that follow have been recorded for fear that we might forget September 12 19 October 1 17 25 31 November 3 6 10 ll 26 27 k 28 December l We had our first assembly which consisted of showing moving pictures of the Junior-Senior Trip of last May. Those green, green freshmen were initiated. The boys were really hubba hubba in their high-heeled shoes and the lip- stick that was smeared on their faces. The girls definitely had a nNew Lookn in those dresses turned wrong side out and a big gum boot on one foot only. You would have envied them if you had seen their costly necklaces. CDon't you dare tell them that we let you know their precious jewels were straight from Mother Earth's sources. In fact they were in the form of raw material yetlj Kirk Bennett gave a very dramatic presentatio entitled 'The Man Who Knew L1ncoln'. After the show he displayed articles of the Civil War and the most famous article was the remnant of the boot which John Wilkes Booth wore when he assassinated Lincoln. Glen Martin, the magician, was here and on this day we dis- covered our talented musicians, Jay Mikesell and Eugene Cloyd. They played their instruments to try to get Phoebe, the snake, to rise out of the basket. Results ------------- Phoebe arose but goodness gracious if you could have heard that music you'd have risen and flew. The Annual Bean Supper was held. Mrs. Elliot, our fifth and sixth grade teacher had the lucky chance on the desk. Bingo was played and the first basketball game of the sea- son was played wlth the Alumni. Sob---They won. Mr. Innis married Dorothy Downey of Lebanon, Ohio. The dignified Seniors came to school dressed in their Sunday- Go-To-Meetin' Clothes and ventured to Versailles to Riggs Studio so they could get their graduation pictures taken. The boys really proved their dignity by allowing the girls to find them on the curb of Main Street with little red tops, whistling balloons and two quarts of a--er--uh--a CIDER. Junior Class Play, 'Say It with Music' Mrs. Reigle had charge of the Armistice Day Program. Rev. Schlechty gave us a talk and we had a silent prayer for those who were killed in the armed forces during the war. Donna Fellers gave her Prince of Peace Declamation. By the way, Donna won the contest from here, too. School holiday for Armistice Day The fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth grades presented the Thanksgiving program. They gave a play and we all agreed that those Indians were very frightening. Hm mm m ml Thanksgiving Vacation Movie entitled nCorr1gedor'. lContinued on next pagej
