SENIOR HISTORY Starting to school in 1935 Bob Wilson, Kenny Niswonger, Ada Marie Runner, Bill Nestor, junior Tharp and many others joined together in the first grade. Miss Myers taught us the A, B, C's and also how to count. It was in january of 1936 that the district around Palestine experienced the worst snow blizzard in years. Many pupils stayed at the school house and in town, while some of the fortunate ones got ways home. This experience we shall never forget. Miss Adavier, who has taught for several years and is still teaching here at Palestine, taught us in the second grade. Junior Tharp left during this year. Harry Poling came in the third grade to cheer us up and has been with us ever since. Mr. Noll took over the fourth grade but Bill Nestor must not have liked him ------- anyway he moved away. Miss Woods, who is now Mrs. Elliott and whom we still have with us in Palestine School, wel' comed Noel Marshall to our group. In 1939 Mr, Sidney Stevens took the task of teaching us so he could help shove us through the door. It really was a task be- cause Duane Goens, Helen Lowdenslager, and Betty Stevens came. Bob Wilson treked elsewhere. The opportunity of being in the High School building came to us in 1941 with Mrs. Neanen as our class advisor. We thought we were big people being with all the High School students. Due to the war and to the fact that there was a teacher shortage, it was necessary for us to go back to the grade building. We missed Betty Stevens, but Mabel Waymire took part in our activities. Most of you will remember the large window broken out of the door because some girls de' cided to play ball in the hall. The boys and girls were always feuding that year but I guess all children go through that stage of life. Miss Mary Halladay, whom we now have at Palestine, prepared us for the eighth grade test. Having passed this and having found ourselves a rather brilliant class we entered the High School building again in 1943 only to find we had seven new friends: joan Archie, Martha Grim, Mary Lou Hapner, junior Tharp, Ray Richards. Also Bob Wilson and Bill Nestor rejoined us. During Freshman Initiation Day we were forced to wear our clothes backwards and the boys had to wear make-up but worst of all we cryed all day '-'- we had to wear sliced onions around our necks. Boy, what a smelly school that day! We got even by working on the class of U4-8 while we were Sophomores. Betty Stevens rejoined us when we were juniors, while Kenny Cliver helped us put out our Recorder and Annual in the Senior year. He joined us in our last year. Kenny Lee Niswonger and Ada Marie Runner started in school together and con' tinued their twelve years of schooling at Palestine. We shall remember all these years of High School, and all the things that happened, our class advisors: Miss Yokum, Mrs. McNemar, Mrs. Bryant and Mrs. Lanich in our years of school at Palestine. MThree Days of Grace our junior Class Play was given in 194-5, Nov. 13, and we shall never forget our practices and of how scared we were the night of the performance. Instead of a junior and Senior recep- tion, we took a trip to Columbus and the southern part of Ohio. This was another mile stone of our life. Upon graduation we would like to wish all the pupils of Palestine as much happiness and pleasure as weave had in going to Palestine.
