PALESTINE HIGH SCHOOL CHOIR ,.- The Pale stine High School Choir sings the fam e d Messiah by I .ik we Mr. Thomas B. Moseley, the Palestine High School Choir director, explains musical terms to the Choir. Handel in an assembly for the student body. HQ 1.7-1 The Palestine High School Choir, under the direction of Mr. Tom B. Moseley, is composed of those students who are enrolled in the third and sixth period choral classes. This organi- zation was founded by Mr. Moseley in 1955. The most important Choir activity of the ye ar was the operetta, The Lowland Sea by Alec Wilder, which ran for two consecutive nights in the high school auditorium. The production was directed by Mr. Moseley and sung by the Choir members. Different casts were featured on the two nights. Once during the year the group per- formed on the Tyler television station KLTV. During the Christmas season they sang Handel's Messiah for several church and civic groups. On May8, the group entered the Interscholas- tic League contest in Kilgore. In addition to the Choir's entering as a whole, a few members sang selections in the soloists' contest. This group of talented musicians and marchers has for many yearsbrought honor to our school through its contest accomplish- ments. In additionto playing at pep rallies and per- forming at half-times at football games, the Band has sponsored two concerts by visiting bands from the University of Texas and Southern Metho- dist University. The organization itself played a concert in March. The desire of Mr. Roy B. Wallace, the very efficient director, to molda first-class march- ing and concert unit has resulted in the present state -wide famous band. Under his expert direc- - tion, several band members have earned seats in the All State Band. Several of the students have been awardedcollege scholarships for their abilities. An organization which plays an important rolein the band's activities is the Band Mothers Association, These industrious women sponsor numerous money-raising projects, the proceeds of which pay for the band trips to the school football games. One way the girls ofthe club have stimulated interest in reading is by writing an educational column entitled Bookworm's Beat in the school paper.
