Kathi Herring Don Boland Foreword 1966 Another year ... another graduating class ... more memories .. . PSHS is more than a building; it is a miniature world containing every conceivable type of person. Many tears have been shed here; many laughs have been shared here. Dreams have been born, hopes fulfilled, and destinies determined within its confines. The sophomores have found themselves in a new and exciting place; juniors have discovered that it takes grim determination and eager spirit to succeed; and seniors have found themselves becoming wistful, knowing it will soon be gone forever. PSHS is a highway to bigger and better horizons. The traveling is sometimes monotonous, often difficult, but always challenging. As the time comes for many to take the next exit, there are hearts that will always remember the old friends, respected teachers, enlightening experiences, and cherished moments that have been an integral part of PSHS. But it is almost time for the traffic to change lanes once again; no backward glances, no detours now! On to the adventure around the corner: the driv- ing may be hazardous, but the driver has been well-trained. The skills he has accumulated will fol- low him through every journey he makes. Thanks, PSHS, for the knowledge, the spirit, the experiences you have imparted— but most of all, thanks for the memories! Dedication Mr. James Holt His devotion to his students, His effort to make PSHS a better place to attend. The example he has set that we all may follow, The truly unforgettable grin that has made his friendship so dear to us......... These, together with his many other qualities of leadership, have led us, The Seniors of PSHS, to dedicate the 1966 MAROON MEMORIES to Mr. James Holt. 3 Jerry Hafner, Judy Ginn, Susan Culpepper, Hally Jones, Ronnie Brown, Ann Preston, Karlene Thomas Mrs. Carter, Julianne Sullivan, Marccilc Smith, Ronnie Brown, Editor Susan Culpepper, Fea- tures Editor; Hally Jones, Assistant Editor; Marceile Smith, Classes Editor Foreign Exchange Student Cornelia van de Water From the land of tulips and windmills to PSHS came Corry van de Water, this year’s exchange student from Shiedam, Holland. Though Corry has had to become accustomed to an entirely new school system, she seems to have made the change easily. Football has become her favorite sport, and she could hardly believe the season was so short. Getting to know you, Corry, has been a wonderful experience for us all. We hope that you will never forget us, for surely we will never forget you. 6 Principal MARSHALL JONES B.A. Atlantic Christian College Algebra and Geometry MRS. The 1965 Palatka Senior High School baseball team came through again with an- other state championship. The Braves fought their way to a perfect 19-0 season record led by the pitching of Buddy Mangum (10-0) and Charlie Payne (9-0) with able support from the hats of Bill Perry (.4171 and Richie Shambly (.400). The climax of the great season came in the finals of the state tournament as Palatka walloped Plant City 14-0 in a game highlighted by a fantastic 12 run third inning. Every Brave had at least one hit with Bobby Pope and Larry Stalvey getting two. The game was a fitting tribute to a team which had demonstrated talent and the desire to win, making them truly state championship caliber. 145 JIM HOOD RONNIE FERGUSON COACH HOLT Front Row: BENJIE MASSEY BOB PORCH RONNIE TUMLIN BOBBY ALLISON BOBBY BUSH Back Row: JIM HOOD WARREN WILHITE RONNIE FERGUSON BENJIE MASSEY m 147 Track Row 1: Johnny Williams, Gordon Philbrick, Howard Farmer, Bill Herrington, Elliott Kane, Wayne Garrett, Fred Bergen, Carl Motes, Gene Eller, Jim Wright, David Lawrence, Mike Stalvey Row 2: Billy Cason, Larry Andrews, Kip Blake, Pat Tucker, Charlie Brown, Craig Edwards, W.
