Pep band member Kim Purcell wearing a purple wig and green sunglasses, Pep Band The Pep Band is a small group of symphonic band members who play at pep rallies before the yarsity basketball games and dur- ing half-time. The group plays the music for the Piradettesf and Pirateersf routines. Pep Band is noted for the unusual out- fits they vvear at the games, such as three piece suits and long dresses, raincoats, short pants, and ridiculous hats. The Symphonic Band is the highest class of band at P.H.S. The members must audition into the band. The Symphonic Band marches during football season, and members of the Pep Band and Mainsail come out of the Symphonic Band. This is the band which travels out of state to perform. The Concert Band is a mostly under- class band. Members from this band must audi- tion in order to move up to Symphonic Band. The Concert Band performs three times per . year. Mainsail Mainsail is the jazz band at P.H.S. The band rehearses during the lunch hours. They per- form for various clubs in the area, and for cer- emonies such as the Cutting Hall dedication. Mad rigals Madrigals is a choral group of the most highly trained and advanced singers at P.H.S. The group presents programs for clubs and organ- izations in the area. The Madrigals are also the lead vocal group in the annual V-show.
