They must also show qualities such as leadership, serv- ice, and character. Members are elected into the society, and mem- bership is limited to the top TZ, of the junior class and 82 of the sen- ior class. The services which the N.H.S. has provided are tutoring students, helping special educa- tion students, and maintenance of the marquee in front of the school. They also make new centerpieces each month for the dining tables at the Plum Grove Nursing Home, and emcee monthly programs on WWMM. Palatine's chapter of N.H.S. was founded in 1936. fl? Presidents' Club lm 'ggi Bottom Row: Beth Weiss Row 2: Andrea Stein, Mary luorio Row 3: Roger Feekin, Anne Skoglund, Kathy Phillips, Carolyn Eaves Row 4: Bruce Thomas, lanet Wilson, Cathy Gillarde, Dave Carlson, Lynn Wirth, Cathy Garrett President's Club is made up of the students in charge of all the clubs. They met biweekly and discussed problems and situations arising in the school. They then attempt to see how they and their clubs can help solve the problems, This year they sponsored Christmas hall decorating. Each year they travel to area junior high schools and give a presentation introducing them to Palatine's activities program. Executive Board The Student Council has greatly increased its mem- bership this year, as well as increasing the number of its activities. For the first time, the Council has sponsored an activity every month. Some of those included a rock con- cert at the school, the show- ing of the movies Heaven Can Wait and Hooper, and a college scholarship. The Student Council has got- ten much accomplished this year and they hope to spon- sor even more activities in the future. The Executive Board is a small group of Council members who decide the general direction of the Student Council's future projects. Round Table Bottom Row: Christie Price, Maxine Brodeur, lean Cocozza, Gina Pelletiere Row 2: Mrs. Leaf, Sandy Bauman, Dave Carlson, Dave May, Mr. Newendorp, Anne Skoglund, Robin Gerth, Mrs, Diehl, Tom Carter Roundtable is a group of students, teachers, and administrators vvho meet regularly to discuss possible improvements in school policy, school spirit, and student privileges. There are many benefits to P,H.S. which have been provided by Roundtable, Included are the dollar bill changer, hot drinks served before school, diet soft drinks in the vending machines, and the Give-A-Lift program that provides rides for physically handicapped students to school events. The group hopes to accomplish greater improvements, especially in the area of vandalism prevention. This was only the sec- ond year that Roundtable has been organized at P.H.S., and it's hoped it will remain for many years to come.
