Personal self-control of one’s attitudes and sense of values is a measure of maturity. Self-discipline, the ability to assess one's own moods, and the sensible control of gratifying feelings are further evidences of proper mature development. People are not bom with these abilities. Their education, training, environment, and circum- stances are responsible for their developing and maturing. Parents, teachers, and the community all share in the responsibility for young people's learning to cope with their personal and social conflicts within society.
