EDITOR'S NOTE ... The 1971 Ebb Tide Staff feels that a yearbook should not be a record of dates and places. It should tell a story, and create a mood. This story will change through the years just as the faces change for time does not stand still. Consequently, we feel that the manner in which the story is told must also change. Many hours and much hard work is spent learning new methods and techniques, and how to use them. The 1971 staff has done its best to present an accurate and interesting picture of life in the halls of PHS. Principals have to rule their flock While students play at making mock.” Finding peace in our own time Does not seem to have a rhyme. Principals share our real concern: Growing up without the burn. Superintendent Of Schools Democracy in 1971 is alive and well! To me democracy is primarily the conviction that there are extraordinary possibilities in ordinary people, and that if we throw wide the doors of opportunity so that all young people can bring out the best that is in them, we will get amazing results from unlikely sources. If you will just open your eyes and look you will find that democracy works as above stated. This is why, with all its discouraging blunders, we must ever- lastingly believe in democracy. it
