Vocational Office Education is preparation for lifetime careers in office occupations through a pro- gram of instruction to provide the initial skills lead- ing to employability and advancement in office car- eers. The training of future office workers in effi- cient skills will help them meet the needs of a chang- ing world of work. Vocational Office Education is an opportunity to put students' classroom instruction into operation, and the student is paid while learning. Also, the student earns two credits for classroom and supervised work experience. Students receive individual and group classroom instruction related to their occupa- tional training 55 minutes every school day and train on the job a minimum of 15 hours per school week. Statistics show more than 60 per cent of the boys start their careers in office work following high school graduation. This program is designed for students that plan to attend college as well as those who do not. Palacios High School has participated in the Vo- cational Office Education program this school year.
