Seniors Go in Circles CLASS COLORS: CLASS FLOWER: CLASS SONG: CLASS MOTTO: Red White Red Rose The Halls of Ivy” We have crossed the bay; the ocean lies before us. ” The Senior Class of 1965 has come a long way since 1953, when 150 of us began our education in Palacios. Now, there are only 61 members. We have certainly had a great many experiences in the past twelve years--some good, some bad, but all have helped us to grow more mature. Our Senior year was the best of all the twelve. We will always remember the rainy peacock hunt, and our famous sayings-- Surf's up! and Uh, dat right. Our class has been an outstanding one in every field of endeavor. We have grown closer this past year by the sharing of ideas and responsibilities. We dislike parting from our friends and leaving the school we have grown to love, but we realize that we must now put our knowledge into practice and make a way in this fast moving space-age for ourselves and those who will follow. To the community, the death of Joan Carroll Allen in a freak auto accident was a severe shock; to her family, a tragic loss; and to Palacios High School’s undergraduates and alumni, a somber mishap. There were pleasant recollections for those who knew her. Her petite stature, her blonde hair, her engaging smile blended into an attractive appearance, from which came a winning personality and a friendly spirit. Therefore, with mingled feelings of grief and pride, we, the Annual Staff of Nineteen Hundred and Sixty-Five, dedicate this in memoriam to Joan Carroll Allen, whose life, brief in its span, exemplifies to all the excellence of quality over longevity. 10
