THE 1965 EBB TIDE Palacios High School Palacios, Texas ALMA MATER Let our voices loudly singing, Echo far and near Praises of Palacios High School And its memories dear. Palacios High School, Palacios High School Loud our praises ring, Hail to thee our Alma Mater Hail all hail to thee. Annual Staff WANDA SEAMAN Editor-in-Chief MARGARET HERUN Assistant Editor MRS. MARY FRIERY Sponsor Foreword We, the Annual Staff, are proud to present to you our 1965 EBB TIDE. This being the silver anniversary of the EBB TIDE and the celebration of a golden year in football, we hope that we have caught glimpses here and there, so that in years to come the activities of this school year at Palacios High will not be dimmed and will not fade from memory. In later years, while turning these pages, if you should recall the many smiles, sorrows, and dreams of 65, we shall be content, knowing that we have done the thing we were called upon to do. Every one of the boys on this page has proved that he has what it takes. These are boys who fought for us and our school every Friday night. This rugged team entered AA with big spirit and came out with big rewards. Their team effort paid off when on December 18, 1964, our team came home with the State Championship crown. This was a climax for the sen- ior members of the team because for the last two years they shared in the honors of District Champions. Our thanks to you. Coaches, for such fine leadership, and many thanks to you, Boys, for bringing home such high honors. You will long be remembered. The hopes The dream come true. ADMINISTRATION 5 J. G. Arrington, Science Gloria Kelly, English, Librarian To the community, the death of Joan Carroll Allen in a freak auto accident was a severe shock; to her family, a tragic loss; and to Palacios High School’s undergraduates and alumni, a somber mishap. There were pleasant recollections for those who knew her. Her petite stature, her blonde hair, her engaging smile blended into an attractive appearance, from which came a winning personality and a friendly spirit. Therefore, with mingled feelings of grief and pride, we, the Annual Staff of Nineteen Hundred and Sixty-Five, dedicate this in memoriam to Joan Carroll Allen, whose life, brief in its span, exemplifies to all the excellence of quality over longevity. 10 : Class Officers: Vice-President-------------Douglas Kubecka Secretary--------------------Robby Shelton President------------------------------John Jackson Class Sponsors: J. Seniors Go in Circles CLASS COLORS: CLASS FLOWER: CLASS SONG: CLASS MOTTO: Red White Red Rose The Halls of Ivy” We have crossed the bay; the ocean lies before us. ” The Senior Class of 1965 has come a long way since 1953, when 150 of us began our education in Palacios. Now, there are only 61 members. We have certainly had a great many experiences in the past twelve years--some good, some bad, but all have helped us to grow more mature. Our Senior year was the best of all the twelve. We will always remember the rainy peacock hunt, and our famous sayings-- Surf's up! and Uh, dat right. Our class has been an outstanding one in every field of endeavor. We have grown closer this past year by the sharing of ideas and responsibilities. We dislike parting from our friends and leaving the school we have grown to love, but we realize that we must now put our knowledge into practice and make a way in this fast moving space-age for ourselves and those who will follow.
