Moments to Remember Red and White Red Rose The Senior Class of 1962 has completed a most rewarding and memorable year. We will always have fond memories of the class parties given by the Baptist. Presbyterian. Methodist, and Catholic churches. We’ll never forget the excitement of the Senior Play and the wonderful feeling of closeness that came over the cast and crew the moment the curtains were opened. Even more unforgettable was the Senior Trip which highlighted the year, the departure at 4:00 A.M., the gorilla cage, the swimming pool and slide, the horseback riding, the donkey carts, the moonlight dances, the 106 steps to supper, and the off-key voice of Carl Barrett as he led us in the Alma Mater as we entered town. Our year was climaxed by the happiness, yet sadness, of Graduation. Following Graduation was the All- Night Party at the Playhouse and a breakfast at the home of Mr. and Mrs. R. G. Herlin. The biggest event of the year for the 61-62 Junior class was about to take place. Yes, it was the day of the Junior-Senior Party. Mrs. Stone was in a panic, Mr. Treybig was doing his best to make some sense out of the decorations, and Mr. Clark, well, he just knew we had all gone crazy! Due to the efforts of the members of our class, the party was very successful. Our class was privileged to be represented by Miss Ann Hunter as a Homecoming Princess. We were also privileged by having three all-district football players in our class--Terry Shelton, Terry Oglesby, and Bruce Erekson. We also had some members on the all-district track and basketball teams --Dalton Mangum and Terry Shelton. Six of our classmates were sent to Boys' State: Gene Cooper, Jack Seaquist, Steve Neal, Tommy Stiles, Terry Shelton, and Terry Oglesby. Seven of our classmates are members of the National Honor Society. Toward the end of school our class enjoyed a class swim and picnic in El Campo. It was the end of a successful year for our class. FLOWER: Red Carnation The Sophomore class of 1961-62 is very proud of having 4 A team lettermen in football. Also 6 Sophomore girls lettered on the A team in basketball. We had 6 probationary members in the National Honor Society. The class favorites were Nancy Turek and Marvin Stuhrenburg. Our class had two major activities during the year; they were the Christmas party and the class picnic. The Christmas party was held in the Junior High Cafeteria. After refreshments were served we ex- changed gifts. Our class picnic was held at the Carancahua River. We had lots of fun swimming and playing baseball. On Sports Night the Sophomore candidate, Karen Bell, was crowned Sports Princess, and the Sophomores placed first in all of the races. We have had lots of fun this year and are looking forward to having much more fun in the future.
