It is with affection and gratitude that we, the annual staff of 1957-1958, dedicate this annual to one who has spent many years in the teaching pro- fession, Miss Belle McGlothlin. We honor her for the patience and understanding, for the help and guidance and for the personal attention she has given her students.

Foreward The year 1957-1958 has been a great one for the Palacios High School under the supervision of Mr. J. G. Smith, Principal. Your 58 Ebb Tide is the work of many minds and hands. Any annual, large or small, needs the services of a varied group, using their many talents. Giving credit to all who made the 58 Ebb Tide a reality is a big job involving the cooperation of almost every student and faculty member in one way or an- other. It is difficult for this annual to portray the full scope of our school days. However, I believe the graduating seniors and others will cherish and treasure the record of our activities, events, school chums, teacher, and other items that made up the school term of 1957-1958. If we print jokes, people say we are silly. If we don't they say we are too serious. If we clip things from old an- nuals, we are too lazy to write them ourselves. If we don't we are stuck on our own stuff. If we stick close to the job all day, we ought to be out hunting news. If we go out and try to hustle, we ought to be on the job in the office. If we don't print contributions, we don t appreciate true genius; if we do print them the an- nual is full of junk. If we make a change in the other fellow's make-up, we are too critical; if we don't, we are asleep--Now likely as not some wise guy will say we swiped this from some other annual. WE DID! ! ! !
