Gar osgrpve St ze Glenn RSITY FOOTBALI The Painted Post football team of l957 was very green in the beginning of the sea- son. Most of the team was disabled with the flu and with the rest, for the most part, comprised of new boys, it seemed to many that Post was doomed to be without a win. Our first three games seemed to confirm the fact, when we last to Waverly 28-O, Horseheads l3-O, and Elmira Heights 35-O. Then the tide started to change. ln our fourth game we hammered in our first three touchdowns against Corning Northside, even though we lost 40-21, In our next game we really looked like a Post team - we beat Watkins Glen 26 13 In our final game of the season the Jug game we turned our arch rivals Haverling of Bath 26 l3 The cancellation of two games, Newark Valley and Owego, because of the flu epi- demic, cost Post a chance at a .500 season. We have lost four lettermen by gradu- ation, but we have retained twelve lettermen. With this experience, combined with Post's fine coaching staff, which includes Mr. Bell- ardini, Mr. Emmi, and Mr. Scala, Post will paint an entirely different picture on the gridiron next year, page sixty-four THE 4 Mr Alberr Errmn Mr Harry Bellordmu Mr George Scala page snxty fwe Row l: Dave Crowl, Gary Johns, Ronnie Jenks, Wayne Bortle, Joe Bement, Bob Heck, Gerry Hadlock, Doug Haskins, Dick Lewis, Don Buck. Neil Dobson was absent . . FOOTBALL The jayvees were scrappy and offered good resistance to their opponents. In three of the jayvee's four defeats they were beaten by one touchdown or less. The squad was composed of almost all freshmen and with a year's experience behind them should prove quite formidable when the following football season rolls around. Next year a record turnout is predicted, which should increase the jayvee power considerably.
