We are sorry that Mrs. Gertie Williams was sick and couldn't have her picture made. We are grateful to our Room Mothers for their cheerfulness and willingness to lend a hand at our parties, picnics, hayrides and dances. CLASS HISllllll Our history officially began when we entered high school as a freshman class of bashful boys and giggling girls. We found our- selves bewildered by the halls and many classrooms. We changed classes right along with the upperclassmen and dreamed of the day when we would be Seniors and view the assembly programs from the place of honor in the balcony. We were led through our Freshman year by Pres. Dicky Atkins, Vice Pres. Rita Faye Hurt, Sec. Treas. Mary Ann Howes. By the time we reached our Sophomore year we were slightly larger, and a little more serious. We lost most of our shyness and were more accustomed to the daily routine of school. We stuck faithfully to our books, relaxing now and then for parties, ball games, band trips, and even dances. Our offi- cers that year were: President, Charles McCurdy, Vice President, Billie Strickland, Secretary, Bobbie Anna Frierson, Treasurer, Myra Baxter, Watch Dog, .lunior Holmes. Our Junior year was a busy year, we were earning money for the Junior-Senior Prom. We sold magazine subscriptions, sponsored dances, sold drinks and hot dogs at the football games and presented a play Take your Medicine which was a big success. lt was one of the finest and funniest plays ever presented in Paho- kee. The money went towards the .lunior-Senior Prom and Banquet. For the first time, we had our Banquet and Prom at the same place. We had the Community Hall decorated to carry out our theme which was Chinese, and also for the first time, we had a King and Queen of the Prom. lt was a great success and one of the fin- est proms ever given for Seniors in Pahokee. That was the exciting year we got our class rings, and we were really proud of them. Our officers that year were: President, Dicky Atkins, Vice President, Mac Lynn, Sec., Myra Baxter, Treasurer, Ada Tillman, Business Managers, Mac Lynn and Patsy Elliott, Watch Dog, Carney Wilder. Excitement was in each and everyone of us as we registered for our Senior year. At last we were ac- tually Seniors. We went to work to elect officers to lead us through our last and most important year, Al- fred Meeks was President, Carney Wilder, Watch Dog, Jack Boland, Vice Pres., Gloria Stuart, Secretary, Dorothy Fields, Treasurer. We gave a class play Music in the Valley which was a wonderful success. Our next big project was our annual which was no easy matter. Mac Lynn was our Editor-in-Chief and it was also a big success. We have had many good times and a few hard times during our high school years. We can forget the hard times but we shall always remember the wonderful times we had. It is with a feeling of regret that we take our leave of Pahokee High School and as we hear the first strains of Pomp and Circumstance and start walking down that aisle our hearts are a little hheavy. We shall always remember P.H.S. and we hope that you won't forget us. DOROTHY FIELDS Historian f ...ik ? Z5 i ,D fx, F '-4. 'I' C. Q 4 K5 xx pf, M Q S ,ff 6 ' ,,. ' I ' 'U-9. F. ' 1 if-J S ' 'ik E. Where's Robert? lil SS PIHIPHICY After a period of about ten years we see John Adams finally taking advantage of his double feature courses--Chemistry and Physics which he took in his senior year. He is now pushing a wheel-barrow for Uncle Sam. After lO years of hard labor Dick has acquired the position of head clerk in the pelican lake Commissary. Myra Baxter is still seen searching for that millionaire she always wanted to marry. Myra says, They sure are scarce these days. We find Dr. Jack Boland getting revenge on one of his old school teachers by pulling their teeth. We see Uncle Dub in his office now. After many sweet letters to her boy friend in Germany, we see that Elizabeth Claridy finally married him. One of our classmates, Bettye Culberson, has just reached the height of her career. She is now manager of the Bocom Point Dime Store. ln T962 we see Linda Cowart sitting on her front porch trying to figure out what she wants to do for a living, lt seems that Dorothy Fields has made good use of her title as wittiest in Pahokee High. She just opened as M.C. at Grovers Bar. Evelyn Clay Fracly has just obtained permission to have a cabin aboard the U.S.S. Hunt where her hus- band is now captain. Artist Bobbie de Frierson is still struggling to sell one of her 839 oil paintings. Her latest painting is The Dike at Midnight. Leonne Gamot is giving advise to Miss Hendry on raising pure bread mama bulls. Are you going to Hawaii any time soon? Chances are you will see Celeta Gant frantically trying to learn the hula dance. After lO long years Wynell Gillis has finally attained her desire. No, not a man, she is still an old maid, but owner ofthe Pahokee Pure Oil Service Station. Louise Hatton is at the height of her career singing Stormy Weather at Dad's Bar. l'Hot Rod Herring has just won the new speed record at the Muck City speedway. He averaged 2lO m.p.h. last week. Buddy Hewell is now 3rd assistant to the head coach of Canal Point High School. We see Rita Faye's little readhead, Jr., asking, Mama, whos Fritz? Edna Unwin and Wynell Jensen have just arrived home from their trip around the world and have de- cided to settle downto a life without men. CLASS PIlllPHtlIl Mac Lynn, after a hard day at his regular work, is sitting home with his wife enioying their cute little trip- let daughters. David Cowboy McCoy is now cattle king of Bean City. He plans to start on his second million this year. Charles McCurdy is still undecided on a career and is playing both last chair clarinet in the Univ. of Florida Bond and 5th string water boy on the Gator football team. Barbara Mcllwain is frantically trying to pack l2 kids into a one room apartment. Are they really cheaper by the dozen, Barbara? Alfred Meeks is at the University of Florida still studying to be an engineer. Wonder if he'll ever get through. We see our former classmate Mary F. Mills on her way to Germany to visit her husband, Davis. Won- der if she took Jr. with her. Congresswoman Joann Platt has just been elected the first woman president. lt seems her essay The Inferior Man has caused an international uprising. We see Bill Fix it Sanford is an interior decorator. He specializes in decorating transparent houses. We see Donna Jo Spooner, fickle as ever, still looking for the perfect man. We now see that Millard Stanley is President of General Motors and has bought out the Ford Factory. He will-now make Fordelets. Mrs. Gloria Stuart Schroeder announces that she has iust completed her football team. She will now try for a cheerleader squad, to go with it. She says someone else will have to furnish the substitutes. After lO years of housekeeping Ada Tillman Atkins now sits by the fire dreaming of her by-gone school days. Ten years later we see Lucile Prince Tootle using the old bookkeeping method to keep track of the little Tootles. Shirley Watson is still trying for her R.N. degree. It seems that the interns at the hospital have slowed her down but she can't decide whether she wants the degree or the husband. Bobby White finally returned home after a nation-wide tour with the professional baseball club, the Sand Cut sandspurs. We hear very little comment from Carney Wilder and his Hog empire on Wilder lsland. They are still waiting for the price of hogs to go up. Miss Love and Leave 'em Williams has just returned from her l7th trip to Reno and is leaving next week to tour Egypt in hopes of finding any eligible Kings. xkfaxmy X0-tLVT'?z M -ww f f?
