Clase History What's all the excitement? Do you want to know what it's about? Well, we are the Seniors and it's our last year of school. Sit down and let me tell you our story. Our official history began when we entered high school as green-very green-freshmen. Our presi- dent was Sidney Caruthers, Vice-President, Jackie Thomas, Secretary, Anna Lee Hurt, Treasurer, Myra Lee Cruthirds, and Watch Dog, Chandler Mcllwain. We spent our time learning the ropes of high school life. At the beginning of our Sophomore year we lost most of our shyness and looked on the brighter side of life. Officers were President, Charles Sears, Vice-President, Myra Lee Cruthirds, Secretary and Treas- urer, Carol Snyder, and Watch Dog, Chandler Mcllwain. This was the wonderful year of l949, when we won the Belle Glade game. It was also the first year in the history of Pahokee that the Sophomores had money in the treasury. Then we were Juniors and what a year! The Junior officers were, President, Sidney Caruthers, Vice- President, Chandler Mcllwain, Secretary, Janet Adams, Treasurer, Jackie Thomas, Business Managers, Joann Rosenberg and Dale Maxwell. In order to earn m o n ey for the Junior-Senior Prom, we sold magazine subscriptions, sponsored dances, and sold drinks and hot clogs at the football games. For the first time, the Juniors produced a play. It was one of the finest plays that have been given in Pahokee High School. The play Here Comes Charlie was a great success. The money went towards the Jun- ior-Senior Prom. We decorated the Elks Club like a Southern Plantation and we showed the seniors that we could give them a wonderful banquet. This was the exciting year we got our class rings, and you can bet we were proud of them. Finally the day came that we were dignified and sophisticated Seniors. Our president for his third time was Sidney Caruthirds, Vice-President, Myra Lee Cruthirds, S ec reta ry, Janet Adams, Treasurer, Joann Rosenberg, Reporter, Richard Tillis. Our most important undertaking was the publication of our annual which we found no easy matter. We had a wonderful football team which won all the games but two and tied Clewiston and Belle Glade. We were the first class to have a party for the faculty and our room mothers. None of us will forget the memories of one another and the grand times we have shared. We, the Seniors of l95l, want to thank our sponsor, Miss Ruth Evans, for her guidance, companion- ship as a teacher, and a friend. We would also like to thank our room mothers, Mrs. Uceba Caruthers, Mrs. Earl Maxson, Mrs. Bill Jones and Mrs. J. E. Williams for all they have done for us. Now you have heard our story and what all the excitement is about, for we are graduating. Don't forget that story, and don't forget us. ZELLA JONES Historian
