A DEDICATION IN TRIBUTE TO OUR RETIRING PR.ESIDENT, DR. R. G. MATHESON As this is the last annual to be published while Paducah Junior College is an independent community college, we wish to pay tribute to the man who has furnished the leadership and stimulus for the college's growth from one building with 26 students in 1936 to a multi-building complex with 1347 students in 1967. Dean, as he is affectionately known to thousands of former P. I. C, students, served as administrative head and academic dean of P.J.C, from 1936 until 1946. From 1946 until the present time he has served as president of the college. His dedication, his knowledge, his common sense, his humor, and his com- passion have aided Paducah Junior Co1lege's development into the kind of insti- tution that recognizes an education, not as the accumulation of memorized facts and rules, soon forgotten, but astheformation of a habit of mind, lasting a lifetime, which enables the individual to make discriminating choices and to arrive at wise decisions. Dean has given us the foundation for greatness. It will be the challenge of future leaders to build upon it. WE SALUTE YOU DEAN MATHESON . . .

WORKED .-7' T S+ Most of the students of Paducah Junior College commute daily from throughout Western Kentucky and Southern Illinois. To each, PIC is something different. Yet, all are bound in the pursuit of one common goal - attainment of an education. This is the force which directs our lives. We work hard - in conferences with instructors, in classes, in in- dividual study, and in research projects.
