Ii i i iii i i Ri |WM T3F inn -iisiii!! ■ I believe in Pacolet High School as a place of opportunity. I believe in its reputation for honest work, fair play, and loyalty to the best interests of the youth of my country. I belive in the belief expressed in its motto, “Exitus non Excusationes,” (Results, not Excuses!) 2 I believe in its worthy traditions: clean sportsmanship, high scholarship, . .. . . . respect for others, obedience to law, and cordial cooperation with the faculty and administration. I, therefore, believe it is my duty to my school to support it loyally and defend it against all opposition! Principal Mr. Bill Littlefield To one who has given of himself wholeheartedly to the expansion, upgrading, and betterment of Pacolet High School for two decades, we, the administration, faculty, students, and staff, dedicate this Tomahawk. With sincere gratefulness we offer this tribute to you, Mr. H. T. Blackwell. Mr. B post's in front of his house. Affectionately known as “MR. B” Mr. H. T. Blackwell has left with Pacolet High School many fond memories. To itemize the contributions of one so dedicated to the spiritual, social, and intellectual growth of all students would be an impossibility. However, among these contributions should be noted the initiation of the Halloween Carnival, the organization of the chorus, accreditation by the Southern Association of Secondary Schools and Colleges, and the high standards associated with Pacolet High School. Dedication Student body officers present a plaque of appreciation to Mr. Blackwell. Students always found him willing to listen to their problems. A favorite school activity—working with the chorus. SISSY7 Student Council Officers Laura Tate, Sec retary-Treasurer Judy Hayes, President Jane Robinson, Vice-President Pacolet High School has one of the most active Student Councils in the state. Many improvements and additions to the school have been made possible by funds from the Student Council. The annual Halloween Carnival, a Student Council project, cleared $1016. With this money, the Student Council made possible the purchase of a public address system for the football field, chairs for a new Student Council room, repairs on the activity bus, covers for the organ and piano in the auditorium, and music for the band. Also, the Student Council joined the Pep Club to help pay for the painting of the gym. In addition to its financial contributions, the Student Council holds weeks of emphasis, such as National Education Week, for the benefit of the students, yw V and sponsors the March of Dimes and United Fund drives. Members hold a meeting in the newly-equipjx'd Student Council room. This club is one of the most active on campus. To raise money for the club, Lucille Hawkins and a number of helpers sell popcorn in the canteen during the lunch break. The club has also made available to Indian fans such articles as pennants, decals, basketball buttons, football ribbons, and pompoms. For its yearly project, the Pep Club purchased a trophy case, valued at $300.00, for the entrance hall of the school. Also, along with the Student Council, they financed the painting of the Gym. The entire student body boosts the club and co-operates in supporting it. Officers admire newly-installed trophy case. V Treasurer Ralph Williams displays his wares. CLASS OFFICERS: Jimmy Dillard, Vice-President; Jenny Lee, Treasurer; Ralph Williams, President; Brenda Wills, Secretary. Junior Class The junior year is one filled with many activities. The goal of every student to become a senior is now just one step above us. Our school days are beginning to come to an end, and all of our thoughts now turn to the future. We must decide whether our paths will lead to college, business college, or a job. Fulfilling some of these requirements of entrance into further education, students take the College Board and other tests, and anxiously await their test scores. During the junior year everyone is becoming active in various school organizations. Participating in snorts, special school projects, and other activities help to comprise a year full of work and fun. Tne Junior-Senior Banquet, an event we have looked forward to since entering high school, is now ours to plan. Following the banquet, Junior-Senior Field Day arrives. The rivalry between the juniors and seniors is brought out as they compete in numerous games and sports. Testing our acting ability, the Junior Class Play is presented. The thrill of putting on a play before an audience is an occasion that will often come to memory in the years ahead. A combination of studying, planning, participating, and just plain having fun comes together to make the junior year one of the best in one’s nigh school career. By our encounter with new activities we have beaten the sophomore slump. This being our first year as senior high school students, we were given more opportunities to prove our status as “full-fledged” Indians. As school opened this year we were finally able to participate in varsity sports. We also proudly accepted invitations to join clubs which were open only to senior high students, such as the Beta and Pep Clubs. Eagerly we anticipated this year, earnestly we have met our challenges, and hopefully we look to the future. It is our desire to become emotionally mature and to be worthy of future demands. After the excitement of the first few days of school, things began to fall into a regular routine. We eighth-graders could now look down on someone — the punk seventh-graders!” The eighth grade is known for its faints, falls down steps, and a few other delightful experiences which we hesitate to discuss. Many of 11s have taken advantage of the opportunities to participate in sports and other Junior Varsity organizations. The eighth grade, on a whole, has a pretty gocxl life at PUS. We now hope for the day when we will be freshmen, the ultimate in junior high school.
