Senior Amid fond reflections and achievements, we, the Senior Class of 1961, reveal for the first time a history of the past twelve years of school life, and especially that life at Pacolet High School. By doing this, we hope that our younger classmates will have success, wherein we failed, and attain ambition wherein we succeeded. In the year of 1949, Pacolet Mills, Whitestone, Glendale, and Pacolet Elementary Schools received in separate portions the students that would compose Pacolet High's graduating class of 1961. From the very beginning, this class's career has been notorious for genius and ability, to say nothing of mischief. The tricks that were invented and the antics that were performed, even through grammar school, have been a special trade mark of this class. As time passed on, grammar school was behind, and the Seniors of 1961 had attained the wisdom and growth of Junior High Students, and at last were united as THE CLASS. Daring deeds were typical of this timid, yet courageous, class, and were so numerous that they all cannot be mentioned here. While some of the classmen fell into the swing of high school life earlier than others, some were content to wait until senior high, but all members looked up, with certain awe,to the towering giants known as Seniors. When they returned in September of 1957 as Fresh- men, they were allowed to choose the courses they wished, and participated more freely in activities such as clubs and athletics. These newly tapped scholars were developing the skills, talents, and understandings that would further prepare them for a fuller and more prosperous life. Mid the Sophomore year, this class found themselves scattered throughout the school, having selected various courses of study, but all were joined in the joy and activity of the high school curriculum. The Junior year was the first big one, with the planning of the Junior-Senior banquet, with all its Hawaiian palms, hula girls, and strumming guitars, followed by the aspiration of new actors and actresses in the Junior play, Our Girls , then climaxed by Junior-Senior field day, which was spent in rivalry against big Seniors, and finally the banquet, which was the product of a year's work. When came the Senior Year, our heroes buried themselves in many activities that are privileges of that final year. They included: Business Education Day, College Day, and an exciting trip to Columbia for a football game, and then the finales which encompassed the hilarious Senior Play, Publicity Mad , and the finish as they slowly marched into the night from Graduation exercises to the strains of The End of A Perfect Day , and twelve years of success, enjoyment, achievement, failure, and great opportunity were over, and life's goals lay ahead. 19 Junior High students are an active part of the school routine as they anxiously await being upperclassmen . . . 3 umor .yQctivitieS TREASURER-Patsy Lee VICE-PRESIDENT-Wanda Brown junior Offi icerA SECRETARY-Jane Crocker PRESIDENT-Terry Scott Kenneth Allen Garland Banks David Brown Varina Brown Wanda Brown Judy Bryant Jackie Collins Tim Crawford 24 Rewarding years . . .
