HONOR LIES AT LABOR'S GATE Since we have reached our Senior Year We realize that a time is drawing near, That we'l1 have to depart and go our way With school day memories in our hearts to stay. Our sincere thanks we wish to extend To those dear teachers who were our friendsg During the times when there seemed no light, They helped us out with expressed delight. These past four years we spent inschool Were easy to make light of as a rule. But now we see and understand Why they are important in our land. For the under classmen this information they'l We can only ask them to take great heed. Whatever a teacher may ask or compel We only hope you'll do it well. Now is a time ihen you don't quite see But to that locked door you'll find a key. So don't give up when help you need, If you continue to try you will succeed. Just beyond this school life, we realizeg Is where that long life school lies. It is up to us to make life a successg To which we all must do our best. Our class was far from being the perfect one. But we'll continue to try until day is done. None of us are going to linger or wait, Because nHonor Lies At Labor's Gate.' by Juanita Hedlund Class Motto: WHonor Lies At Labor's Gaten Class Flower: Red and White Carnations - Class Colors: Red and White 1 need, IZSLQUD C2 aaa .js-Afsfor When we started our long journey toward graduation, we had a class of ten students. 'T , eg., V Q f l 1 Q .1 LQILYUU X055 pl 0l0A2Cg As I, Billy Ward, in 1962, was returning to my hotel apartment in Phoenix, Arizona, from my day at work as bank inspector, I decided to take a vacation. Why not? I hadn't had one for three weeks! The next morning I departed in a jet airplane to see my classmates of 1952. After I left Phoenix, I landed at West Point to find Major Max Kimple teaching. He graduated from Yale Univer- sity with a B. S. degree in Mathematics. Also a master's degree from Columbia University. After lunch and a hearty hand-shake and good-by with Max I buzzed to Hollywood, California. Needing a shave and hair cut badly, I went into the first barber shop that I saw. There I found no other than Bob Dunston, a French Coffure, Cbetter known in English as a barberl cutting Clark Gab1e's hair and trim ing his mustache. On Hollywood and Vine, where I was window shopping, I ran into Doris Johnston coming work. She holds the honorary position as private and personal secretary to Bob Hope. She told me she had her eye on a man and hopes to bec me a wife of a rich oil executive in Dallas, Texas. Doris told me Jo Ann Garber, the wife of a movie pro- ducer, is living in Hollywood, and has two sets of twins. Q Bidding her farewell, I Continued on my journey. My next stop was in Sun Valley, Idaho. whom do you think I saw? Joyce Livesay, wife of a wealthy dude rancher! From here I flew to Kansas City, Kansas to see Clifford Pepper, who is following the fundamental theories of Charles Gibbezts nCheaper by the Dozen.H He has a dozen chain stores for each of his children to operate when they are of legal age. when I left Kansas City In a cloud of dust, I decided to go out of my.way for a few minutes and see Des Moines, Iowa. I was sitting, in the lobby of Hotel Savory when presto, Juanita Hedlund came sauntering with a very handsome distinguished-looking man. Juanita is secretary of the Iowa Federation Women's Club. Fairfield, Iowa, my old stomping ground, was my next stop. Here I found Bill. Hipp. He took me to dinner and asked my opinion on several prospective wives. He is pres- ident of the Jefferson County Farm Bureau. l5!liUO I While in Fairfield, I went to see David Nordyke who is a junk dealer. He buys all the antique Chevrolets he can find so he can keep his own running. I found Danny Mitchell still west of Packwood, raising saddle horses , attending horse shows, and participating in rodeos. Dwain Sutton lives northwest of the cit, on a huge dairy-farm. He informed me he is rearing a family of four and is quite well. In Iowa City , I met Earl Wiseman, who had won a schol- arship award for his great track fetes and is now director in the University of Iowa. Leaving Iowa City, I flew to Miami, Florida. Here I met Ella May Garrels, who is teaching Social Science in the high school there. In her spare time she is entertaining Iowa Socialites, especially those from Packwood. From there I flew to New York City. After I got off my plane, I stopped at a news stand to buy a New York Herald. Here I found Mary Simmins, who is a reporter for the New York Herald. i Patient: Oh, nurse, do you think I'll be able to play the violin after I'm well? Nurse: Why of course you will. Patient: That's funny--I never could play the violin be- fore!! Jim: Never hit a man while he is down. Jack: Why? Jim: Because he might get back up. Wife! Is everything shut up for the night? Husband: That depends on you, dear. Everything else is. .LQTLXVU Judi an jdfamenf We, the class of 1952 of Packwood High School, Packwood Iowa, Jefferson county, State of Iowa, do hereby make, pub- lish, and declare this to bee our last will and testament, hereby revoking all former wills and codicils by us at any time heretofore made.
