And so, after dozens of sheets of valuable paper were scribbled and thrown aside, it suddenly dawned upon us that was that for which we and our forefathers had always struggled — the promise of Tomorrow built upon the knowledge of The Past. And so, you will remember that the Students of Pa- cifica were called upon to offer those re- cordings of our HERITAGE which had brought to them the most encouragement. You will find them scattered throughout these pages . . . excerpts of lasting value from the best minds of the ages. “Contemporary American Literature is a living record of an age that challenges our skill, our strength, our life.” from: ADVENTURES IN AMERICAN LITERATURE DEDICATION . . . In Education, it is never a problem to find dedicated people to whom a Yearbook should be dedicated; the prob- lem is to find THE ONE. You will never forget “Larry Muekey, Vice-Principal and Dean of Boys, who dispensed effective discipline so gently that over the sting was always the balm of confidence that he really cared . . . that he really had faith we could pull through. Perhaps no one will ever know how many Pacifica boys have been inspired by him to stand straighter, to walk with pride. But someday the Boys will know, and so, this year, the SPARTAN ’62 is dedicated to . . . MR. LAWRENCE MUCKEY
