The squad sported an unblemished record, after rattling off 18 consecutive victories without a loss. Pacifica ' s first girl ' s soccer team had very strong participation and enthusiasm. By the end of the season the offense scored 108 goals while defenders let only 3 by. The varsity squad had a smashing record, also proving that they deserved the Empire League title. Going into GIF, Pacifica was rated 8th in the state. Winning their Tirst two games, the squad then made it to quarter finals, but unfortunately lost to Upland. As for the J.V. soccer team, they also did the best job possible in getting those victories for the Mariner ' s. Winning every game played their tal- ents and determination really stood out. Both soccer teams had a successful first season. I 215

VOLLEYBALL Varsity Team Top to bottom: Joann Saul, Johnen Bissen, Patsy Lakin, Heather Lies, Kim Maddox, Susan Asperin, Eleanor Pereau, (coach), Judi Ressler and Jenny Park. Coming off with a disappointing finish, the girls ' volleyball teams had a tough act to follow from last year. With only two returning varsity players, the teams ' experience was not quite enough to carry them to C.I.F.. However, the talent of the new spikers was not to be underestimated. Teamwork was stressed by first year coaches Eleanor Pereau (Varsity), and Larry Price (J.V,). The outstanding individuals were Most Valu- able Players, Joann Saul (Varsity), and Robin Clair (J. v.), and Most Improved Players were. Heather Lies, (Varsity), and Tracy Paris (J.V.). V. Team Top row: Larry Price, (coach), Eileen Dodson, Tracy Paris. Robin Clair, Lisa Ernst, Stephanie Lockhart, Kneeling: Mary Vale, Karyn Wulbrun. Vida Hudson and Suez Meyers. 217
