X 'Ei 3 A gs' , WASSAIL PARTY A tradition at Pacific University for the past 48 years has been the Christmas Wassail Party, held this year on Tuesday, December 9 . The boar's head was carried by Dean Charles Trombley, Dean Willard Bleything carried the raisins and offering the wassail bowl was English professor, lVlr. lVlichael Steele. The procession was done after a pro- gram of music, dance and a touch of acting by students of Pacific University. Among those singing or playing Christmas carols and hymns were the Gospel Choir, the Hawaiian Club, Laird Thornton, Ed Schaefer and Doug lVlclVlickle and the Gamma

X N it Tum N, 2 st 'Rf Wt W f'i'5-a- K' , g , I ' g K . . xy Returning to school on October 27, the students of Pacific found themselves face to face with the beginning of the second Seven Week term. The football team played their last three games of the season and had their awards banquet the 25th of November. For Halloween, Andy Worhol's Frankenstein movie was shown along with a costume party on the lst of November. The Thanksgiving break was November 27th through the 30th, giving many students the opportunity to leave the campus for turkey dinner. On December 4th-6th, a basketball tip-off tournament was held to start off another good season for the Boxers. With the falling of snow and colder weather, the people of Pacific found their friendship bonds growing warmer and stronger. Different activities such as wing parties, dorm parties, concerts, Jesus Christ Superstar, and the 48th annual Wassail Party on December 9th, were held in honor of warming the Christmas spirit in everyone's hearts. Sigma fraternity. Those performing dances were Joan Walker, accompanied by Monte lVIcGovern, and John Neff and his dancers. The P.E . IVIajors Club put on a humorous skit and Santa Claus appeared after everyone joined in singing The First Noel and Joy to the World . All the girls and the advisor of Oak Leaf deserve many thanks for putting together a great show and keeping the Wassail Party a growing tradition over the years. 15
