INDEX Ask most Pacific Students or staff members about their Friday activities during 1975-76, and they'll probably have one thing in common - picking up the latest issue of the Index, Pacific's own journalistic endeavor. For those involved in the production of the weekly tabloid, whether for credit or as a volunteer, it was a chance to see their words or photographs in print - possibly for the first time. Dave IVIelton was chosen to lead the staff as editor for the fall semester, who passed the role to Mike Scott for the spring editions. News on events of interest to various groups were a regular part of the Index, with a weekly feature on upcoming events from activities director Aggie Baiker. Before moving into the editor position, Scott was sports editor, and his weekly lVlicrophone column gave a roundup of various sports items. The pages of the Index didn't lack their share of controversy, however, as Colleen Faulkner, Barney Lerten, and others added their opinions on the passing Pacific scene. As with any opinion, many disagreed, but their feedback was a part of the involvement of the Pacific community with its newspaper. KPUR, the Daily Bulletin, the Heart of Oak, each have their role to play. . .but the Index was involve- ment - throughout the year. Pacific University Forest Grove, Oregon
