, Since its founding nearly ninety years ago Pa- cific Union College has made steady progress as an educational establishment uniquely dedicated to preparing young men and women for the joy of service in this world and for the higher joy of wider service in the World to come. The present Administration and Faculty are dedicated to this worthy and perpetual purpose while of necessity continually modifying practices and procedures to fit new and constantly changing conditions. lt is our aim in the words of Henry Ward Beecher, so to live and labor in our time that what came to us as seed may go to the next generation as blossom, and what came to us as blossom may go to them as fruit. This is what we consider to be true progress. To assure this proper progress toward its stated goals an institution or organization as in- volved and complicated as P.U.C. must have care- ful division of responsibilities and the assignment of specific duties to each of several administrative officers. To this end the Board of Trustees quad- rennially selects a President, an Academic Dean, a Business Nlanager, a Dean of Students, a Direc- tor or Secretary of College Relations, a Director of Admissions and Records, an Assistant to the President for Development, an Associate in Aca- demic Affairs and an Associate Business Manager. These officers meet together frequently as the Administrative Council. At these sessions matters of immediate and current concern to the College are considered and decisions are reached regard- ing its proper operation. The accompanying photograph presents these officers at a rare moment of relaxation during a busy day in November, 1970. F. O. Rittenhouse, President
