Confronted with a massive influx of students and already crowded living quarters, PUC's deans struggled valiantly to squeeze in, placate, and untangle the complex problems of student dormitory life. With a ready reserve of understand- ing, encouragement, and tact, these men and women en- deavored to instill Christian principles of living into the sometimes unreceptive minds of the young adults in their charge. Under the guidance of Mrs. Margaret Turner, Dean of Women, Andre Hall was capably managed and new improvements to the dormitories were added. Mrs. Donna Koehn, Dean of Freshman Girls in Graf, guided and befriended them in their new experience of college life. Mrs. Loraine Krieger was the dean and confidant of the upper-classmen girls in Dauphinee Hall. The womens deans were aided by Mrs. Rose Shafer, who directed worship services, counseled, and just talked with the girls. Mrs. Ilene Stickle, associate dean of women on the Glendale campus, directed the home life of PUC's 72 second-year nursing students. Dean of Men. Don Coles. supervised the men's side of campus from Newton Hall. Between keeping a watchful eye on the Thinker and an occasional rowdy engagement celebration, he and his associates A. G. Grams, Dean of Grainger: and Roy Reeves, Assistant Dean of Newton: offered practical solutions to the problems of life away from home. ...Deana Haag Donald J. Coles, MA. Margaret Turner, l3.S.
