Foreword . . . This is my college. I have chosen it for many reasons- l'or the spontaneous lriendliness of its students and teachers, the genial warmth of its dorm life, and tl1e sincerity of its Christian atmosphere. I came here to get an education-an education that would mean battered books, scribbled notes, stacks ol' tests, and keeping up my GPA. I found all this, but I lfound more too. Through all the work and play, the laughter and study, I discovered the real purpose of going to college -to develop mentally, spiritually, and physically, so that I will honor God in this life and prepare for eternal life. We dedicate . . . this book to Dr. Reu Everett Hoon, one who has become a part of the tradition of PUC- but more than that, a brilliant scholar, an outstanding teacher, and a be- liever in young people. His students will not soon forget his slight, stooped Hgure, and clear blue eyesg nor his way of enliven- ing his classes with a pithy remark and an infectious smile. His complete command of the field of chemistry, his clear and pre- cise lectures, and his breadth of general knowledge have won for him our highest regard. His quiet Christian life has taught us much about a realistic, conquering Christian faith.
