MENTAL WHEN REGISTRATION WAS OVER, I had a stack of new books, a program card, and a hazy idea of something called a GPA. As the year wore on, my books lost their crisp newness, I didn't use my program card any more, and that GPA kept me awake nights. Through classes, labs, term papers- lhe tools of the student - I began to understand the world around me, the reasons behind things I had always taken for granted. And more important, I learned that to develop my mind is my responsibility Luth to God and to my neighbors . . .

Those Who Teach MAYBE I'LL FORGET the dates we memd- rized in history, the complicated formulas for chemistry, and the endless details in math. But I won't forget the Christian teachers who not only gave us assignments, lectures, and tests, but also held before us 'the ideals of complete development. In seven major areas of learning, they have trained us in their specialized fields and have introduced us to the broader educa- tion for life after college . . .
