M. and enter through the front door. At all times be courteous and show a friendly spirit, as no school can succeed when there is friction between leaders. Keep your room as clean as possible. If you need material report to the Superintendent. Watch the ventilation closely. Correct the misuse of books, improper language, and Waste- ful attitude of some students in use of school and individual material. Do not allow the use of tobacco in or about the schoolg this habit is not frequent at this school, but if it appears give notice at once to the Superintendent. The school is not the place, nor are school-days the time for smoking. Boys and girls should not be seen in each others company too frequently. LEEZY SUPERINTENDENT LEEZY received his high school education at Steelville, Missouri. While attending high school he also took a business course. Mr. Leezy has his B. S. Degree in Education from Southwest Missouri State Teachers College at Springfield. Agriculture and education were his major courses, and mathematics, social science, and physical education were his minor courses. Superintendent Leezy started his career as a teacher in 1906, teaching in the rural schools of Crawford County for eight years He was principal ofthe Bourbon Schools for two years and four years principal of the Pacific Grade School ln l92l 22 he became principal ofthe Pacihc High School and last year he was advanced to the position of superintendent of our schools That his service has been of the highest type IS indicated bv his advancement Mr Leezy has been athletic director IH the schools of Pacific eleven years and it should be noted that before that time no cups medals or pennants were claimed by the school Since he became athletic director the school has won the largest collection of trophies in Franklin County and some of his athletes have won national honors By honest competition and generous sportsmanship not only ID athletics but in all phases of his work Mr Leezy has strlven consistently to impart to the student the spirit of his favorite maxim When Ihe One Crea! THE JUNIOR CLASS HE JUNIOR CLASS started the school year of l927-28 with high hopes and ambitions. Our class was composed of twenty-five students, eight resident and seventeen non-resident, all of whom were greatly in- terested in the prospects for the coming year. Our class officers were selected early, and they immediately proved their worth. A straight course was offered the juniors. It is com- posed of United States History, English Literature, Higher Mathematics, and Physiology. Courses were also offered in Typewriting and Physical Education. All but four took advantage of the Typewriting course and all are taking ad- vantage of the Physical Education training A large percentage of the uniors are also interested in the various activities of the school such as the declama tory and oratorlcal contests track and held events and music Clara Maher the high school star runner is a member of the unior Class Francis Maguire and Newton Everett of our class are also among the leading runners Several others of our class were members of the basket ball teams four re ceiving letters Bennie Martin a promising young unior orator won second in the preliminary oratorical contest ln music our class is well represented five of the boys and six of the girls being members of the Ctlee Clubs Two of our uniors are also members of the school orchestra We are indeed proud of Owen and Celeste Arban who are two of the brightest students in school They have never failed to represent our class on the honor roll As a whole we believe our class to be one of the bright est in school We expect to see many of our classmates in future years holding high places in the world and its in dustries f l926 1 ! CLASS of Pacific High School, I927-28, consists of thirty-two jolly students. It is very unusual for the Sophomore Class to lead in en- rollment. The Freshman Class usually leads, as there is always a certain number of students who, for various reasons, drop out as the years roll by, making the classes smaller as they near their goal. This is not true, however, in all cases. ln the spring of l926 there was an exceptionally large group of eighth grade graduates. It was these students, inspired with ambition for an education, encouraged by far-sighted parents, and accom- panied by a smaller group of students from adjacent towns and rural districts, that made up the Freshman Class that fall. There were very few of these Freshmen who did not enroll as Sophomores last fall To take the places of those few who did not was an equal or slightly larger number who had secured their Freshman training elsewhere making the Sophomore Class the largest in high school On the second and fourth Mondays of every school month the Sophomores hold class meetings The purpose of these meetings is to transact any business In which the voice of the whole class might be necessary to clear up any mlsun derstandmg which might arise and to secure and maintain a closer fellowship among the students The class officers were elected democratically and the meetings are carried on the same way Several of the students of this class are successfullv carrying five subjects which Indicates ability and diligence Bearing this in mind and considering the large size of the class which reduces thelr chances to secure individual at tention from the teacher lt ns obvious that the educational ambition and the encouraging influence still retain their ef fect We are hoping they continue to do so g,,,,... HISTORY OF THE FRESHMAN CLASS HE FRESH MAN CLASS is composed of twelve boys and thirteen girls, most of whom have been together for the last four years. From the year l923 to I927 we have had just about the same members, although there have been a few new ones added to our class. There have been some who have stayed and others who have been with us for only a short while. GIRLS CHORUS was organized late in Septem ber l926 by Miss Wilma Mason to whom we give the credit and honor for making this organization of the school what it is Although this organization is young we feel that it has accomplished much and the members have received some valuable trammg along the lines of choral singing The chorus entered the county contest and brought home the cup We have appeared several times in public performances and many times in school programmes The chorus has regular practice twice a week and each member feels the same spirit of punctuality and attention that she does for her regular routine subjects. This has con- tributed greatly to its success. STATE HIGH SCHOOL LETTERS A few years ago the State Department of Education decided to offer a high school letter to all Juniors and Seniors who won one thousand points from the following: health, posture, sportsmanship, scholarship, athletics, service, stu- dent activities and games. A student, in order to win a letter, must be above that of the average student. ln the year l925 the Pacific High School led the state in number of letters won, having a total of fifty-five per cent of all the uniors and Seniors winning high school state letters Many letters have been won by our students since that time The State Department has also offered a State Super High School Letter to students who win fifteen hundred points from the same list as that of the high school letter But few students over the state have won this letter as its requirements are such that only an extraordinary student can earn one During the present year three of our Seniors Kenneth Fletcher lrl Long and Elwm Scott have won super letters while Misses Blanche Hanley Marie Straub and Anna Zeiser have won state high school letters State letters were also won by Elmer Roemer and Ralph Martin of the unior Class IAKI IIIIRIYI CI !
