We feel we owe a sincere 'ithank youw to our hard-working School Board, which helped to make it possible for us to have this new high school which we have grown to cherish in this first year. They made the important decisions that affected all of us. They took care to transfer and hire the teachers they felt would do the best job to establish the standards of a new school. They took care to regulate all the salaries and budgets, to plan and let contracts for all school buildings, and transact innumerable other orders of business that keep our San Bernardino school system running smoothly. President . ,,,,, . . DR. VAN OSDEL l l'C6 President . . ROY E. CHAPMAN MRS. BONNIE OEHL MR. K. MARKS an DR. J. SAVAGE High Schools MRS. SOPHA EMMERTON MR. ALBERT MORGAN. JR. if 1 1 5 MRS. GERTRUDE C. BOETTCHER This very capable lady is Pacific's unofficial school hostess as well as its Vice Principal of girls. The general supervision and discipline of the girls at Pacific High School is her main duty. This covers a wide field and includes acting as the director of all school organizations as well as the major attendance problems. The cafeteria also falls into her hands, and the health department in the nurse's absence. This briefly covers her duties but barely touches the actual work she does for our school. She is always ready and willing to help where she is needed. We find her very valuable to our school and hope we keep her for many years to come. 0 I 0 'hee- MR. JOE R. KLEIN The position of Vice Principal is an important one with much work and little prestige. Mr. Joe Klein has filled that position this year here at Pacific. Besides having to bc prepared at all times to take over the job of Principal in case of his ab- sence, Mr. Klein had many other duties. When school first. began. he was placed in charge of all the counselors. the general discipline on the school grounds, and the boys' major attendance problems. He was co-ordinator of all the printed material that circulated within the school and scheduled all the athletic events. Nearly all of the responsibility of making the rules and seeing that they are carried out falls upon his shoulders. The co-operation the students have shown to these rules and the privileges they have enjoyed this year is due a great deal to the fact that they can feel he has a real and deep interest in all of the students and is working for their benefit. un!- Sf 5' g K 0 9 a When the- aclministrativc f-leyrit-al staff first ar- ' rived at our new sf-lwol this yvar. they had many problems to srtlyf- and situatinns tt, face. We also want to remember them in the way' they have instructed us. encouraged us. and led us hy' their examples. Always ready' to understand. to sympathize. to laugh. they have given freely of their time. talent and themselves. .Xt the close of this year they leave with us the will to attain still higher standards. the desire for increased wisdom. and the enthusiasm to keep high that spirit we have found and developed at Pacific. They' have made our school a place of enjoyment in learning hy' endeavoring to guide us. without dominating us. They have shown us a patience which we did not often deserve. and somehow making us believe in ourselves. Mu V We were the lowest of the lowgaecording to the juniors and the seniors. But, when we could forget our lowliness. we tried to fit in with the high-school life. We tried to fit in and we succeeded. for we gained recognition for our class because of the activ- ities in which we participated. Vile have enjoyed ourselxes at Pacific, for we were new at high school, and Pacific was a new school, and it appeared to us that we had something in common, therefore we became closer. Yes, we must admit it, we are the best sophomore class Pacific has had. Adams. First fell Needles by 37 points, then in C.I.F. Valencia, Bell Gardens, Fontana, Bellflower, and Hemet. At last we reached the top, the C.l.F. finals. Although the game was a tie, Brawley won, by a heart-breaking technicality. We, the citizens of Pacific, owe the players a vote of thanks for a job well done. xx WJ J im Nfyre.
