arlaetinq HE Marketing Club has made great strides since its birth in the fall of 1948. Originally organized by MAS students and called the Pica Club, the name was soon changed to the Market- ing Club to include all the students of the Busi- ness School, with whom it had gained favor. One of the club's foremost accomplishments in the past year was joining the American Mar- keting Association. Each club member now has a membership card entitling him to attend all the associations functions and to make use of its placement bureau, library, and other benefits. The members have been afforded the oppor- tunity of gaining invaluable knowledge of the practical application of marketing principles from the many line guest speakers who have addressed the club. These notables have included: Mr. George Miller, famous conductor of the Aesop Glim Clinic in Printers' Ink Magazineg Mr. Walter Weir, President of the Walter Weir Advertising Agency, and, Mr. Frank R. Coutant, President of Fact-Finders Associates, Incorporated. Under the guidance of Mr. Stanley H. Mullin, Faculty Adviser, the present otlicers of the Mar- keting Club are planning to supplement the regu- lar speaker program with field trips, market sur- veys, and case studies. EXl.'CZlli1't! ' D mounting HE Pace College Accounting Club was acti- vated in September of I9-19, to offer to the students of the Accounting School an opportunity to participate in professional activities. Originally, the club functioned in the interests of upperclassmen. Now, in accordance with the growth and expansion of Pace College, a new approach had been adopted: to include all stu- dents in accounting. The Accounting Club, late in 1950, decided upon the name Homer S. Pace Accounting So- ciety, in honor of the achievement and contribu- tions in the lield of accounting made by the founder of the college. The society will present pins and keys to its members who have shown a better-than-average understanding of accounting and who have been unusually active in the group. Arthur' liisguier. defeats two opponents at once. ark Chess PURRED on by their mutual interest in the intricacies of the game of kings, a small but diligent group of students meet weekly to further their knowledge of chess. Counting themselves extremely fortunate in hav- ing as their leader the well known Arthur Bis- guier, United States junior Champion, the group has responded quickly to his skillful and expe- rienced guidance. The goal of the memhers is to develop a well balanced team capable of accluitting itself well in matches with other colleges in the metropolitan area. Uebahnq HE Debating Society was reorganized at Pace College in the spring of 1950. The society elected otlicers, adopted a constitution, and looked forward to the fall with anticipation. The sum- mer, however, changed that anticipation, for only one officer remained of the six who had been elected. lt is the desire of all, in the spring of IOSI, to see the society on an intercollegiate level, in addition to weekly intramural and inter-society activity. lffff wir M.
