The original members were: Murray Katz, drumsg Alfred Wiec'zorek, accor- diong Martin Blakeman, tenor saxg Paul Kanishak, trumpetg Mr. Allen Foster, faculty adviser and pianist. After a few hurried rehearsals, the band played for the Spring Dance. This year the original group, minus Paul Kani- shak who graduated, returned and had been aug- mented by XX7illiam Resler, trumpet, Allen Gar- linkel, tenor saxg Michael Grasso, alto saxg Lionel Held, tromboneg lldward jerry, guitar. This year Al Wieczorek was elected the leader. The band this year has already played for the Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas dances. The music and music stands have been supplied by the col- lege. The orchestra has concentrated for the time being on playing a wide variety of dance music including: fox trots, vvaltzes, tangos, rhumbas, dixieland, blues and polkas. It is hoped, eventually that it shall be able to assist the Glee Club, play martial music for ath- letic teams, and play some classical selections.
