Captain Steve Bogden lets one fly. BU ling HE Pace College Bowling team has sported an extraordinary record since its inception in 1947. One of the founders of the Metropolitan Intercollegiate Bowling Conference, the Pace Keg- lers have an admirable record in league play. Finishing in third place in the initial season of the conference, the Bowlers took championship honors in 1948-49 and 1949-50. In 1950-51, with the league much strengthened and enlarged to twelve teams, the Pace Keglers made it three in a row to again win the M.I.B.C. championship. Ably led by Coach Gunnar Ekberg, the Keglers opened the 1950-51 campaign with only four veterans of the previous championship squads. Captain Marty Gorman, Val Lidak, Bill Sovak, and Steve Bogden had seen action before, and newcomers Ted Szymanski, Leroy Pope, Joe Webb, and Don Ricchiuto were selected to bolster the Setters' strength. Recruited mainly from the efficient intramural program, the Bowling Team offers collegiate com- petition for those who are unable to participate in full-time athletics. Tap mu'--Manager S. Zavin, J. Track NAUGURATED in the spring of 1950, the Pace College Track Team competed in but two meets. Lack of proper training and practice facilities hampered the thin-clads from competing in a winter schedule, but six meets were arranged for the spring. Witli the addition of a strong field team and sporting brand new uniforms, the Trackmen will engage teams from Brooklyn Poly, Upsala, C. C. N, Y. Evening, Long Island Aggies, and will also be represented in the Metropolitan Small College Meet. Coach George Shanker, who took over the reins of the squad when former Coach Leo H. I.eMaire was recalled to service, has extremely high hopes for his charges. He feels that with the past sea- son's experience under their belts, they will be able to hold their own against any team in their own class. The fifteen man squad is led by Captain Pat Del Giorno and supported by such stalwarts as Fred Ummer, Les Riffkin, Harkness Cram, Wil- liam Duncan, and Richard Bean.
