THE TORCHBEARERS PROUDLY PRESENT . . . another hit! The Torchbearers is one of the older and better known organizations at Pace College, and has enjoyed success in every venture. Organized in 1948, the Torchbearers have presented such plays as: The Torchbearersu Qtaking the title of that play as their official organization namejg Night of January 16th,'g You Can't Take It with You , Guest in the House , Too Many Girls , and, their latest production, The Man Who Came to Dinnerf' The plays to be presented are chosen by a com- mittee made up of members of the Torchbearers, and the roles are awarded on the basis of com- petitive readings. XVaving arms, acrobatics, and good loud voices of the Cheerleaders lead the followers of the Pace basketball games. The six young ladies attractively attired in blue and gold uni- forms comprise this year's Cheerleading Squad. Organized in 1947 with the return of varsity competition to our college scene, the Cheerleaders are directed by Director of Athletics, Philip F. Watterson. With only two girls returning from last years squad, Mr. Watterson was faced with the task of forming a practically new and inexperienced group into a well coordinated squad. After much hard practice, the Cheerleaders made their debut at the Alumni-Varsity basketball game. To show their spirit, the girls voted to appear at all Pace basketball games, both home and away. With their variety of cheers and their assort- ment of acrobatics, the Cheerleaders have proved a welcome addition to the ball game scenes and an effective stimulus for our teams in competition. The trophy, in miniature, is pre- sented to the respective performers, and their names are inserihed on the major trophies whith are on display in the Pate College Lihrary. XlUith the thought in mind that the more a person knows of the theater the hetter his per- formante, the Tortlihearers have invited well known personalities to the tollege for informal distussions on the different prohlems tonfronting the present day theater.
