' If l 3 ,' i WW Y , The Senior class and the PACESETTER staff dedicate the 19774978 annual to Mr. Ralph Nolen. Nlr. Nolen has been at Pace since 1973, and since then he has proven to be a major influence in the Pace community. He has promoted the Music Department, and, through his own dedication, enthusiasm for music at Pace has become contagious: he supports the program as well as the individual. Outside of the Music Department he teaches a music history class and a typing course. Perhaps his most important contrib- ution to Pace has been his ability to draw people together from all facets of the Pace com- munity through the fall musical. Parents, friends, students, and teachers all get involved, and with Mr. Nolen's talented effort the outcome is always enjoyable. Mr. Nolen is a defi- nite asset to Pace and we appreciate his sharing his multifold talent with us. 35-Y-x,. These sights and many more come bined to set the tone for the 1977 Pace Country Fair and Auction, sponsored by the Pace Parents Club. From the large tent in front of the administration building to the carni- val booths setup inthe gardens, the campus was converted to a huge fairground on Saturday, October 22, for this annual all-day event. A record- breaking success in every way, this year's Country Fair was even recognized by Prince Charles. IW ' vw ! i sal if -.E Q . . ,rx p x QI,- l A ix.. l 5-1. The sea- son record of 7-13 is not a true indication of the team's success. Injury and sickness lost a few games a healthy team could have won. The team was led in scoring by Billy Griffin. Greg Chambers directed the offense, and led the team in assists and while played good D, led the team in steals. Jimmy Isaacson was the team's leading rebounder, and led in interceptions. f . . ,.....,., . ii ,fi fi -'N ---J K., T A ,ML ,xr Larry Chandler added another dimension to the offense with his outside shooting, Lloyd Schoen was a key to the defense, and played excellent post on offense. Richard Diamond was a hustler on defense, and helped direct the offense. Berlin Ben- S field added much needed height and, thus, provided better rebounding. Dickson Brown had the ability to come into any game and get the job done. Mark Lamb had the highest vertical jump, and always gave 100'M, effort. --1 1, le ? i AMEQ1' Y , 4 wa. 1, 'Mfg ff in V' ,Egg J ,f xi B GIRLS VARSITY BASKETBALL Entering their second season of play, our Lady Knights fared quite well. Many of the boys had winning dual meet records including Jimmy Lau at 95 lbs.5 Todd Smoot at 121 lbs.5 Mike lrons at 145 lbs.5 Scott Harris at 155 lbs.5 and Chris Sotus in the unlimited classification. Two boys, Scott Harris and Chris Sotus, achieved region championships in Region 7-B. Todd Smoot finished 2nd in the State B for the 121 lbs. classification at the meet held at Bremen. Smoot, a sophomore is definitely a threat for the State championship next year. Cap- tains of the team were Scott Harris and Mark Elson. In fact, Pace looks forward to a very successful season next year under the direction of Dr. Neely Young. The team should be strong with the fol- lowing boys returning: Jimmy Lau, John Sumlin, Walter Thwaite, John Crissey, Ken Stephens, Monty Greene, Todd Smoot, and Chris Sotus.
