HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT COUNCIL The High School Student Council was sponsored by Mr. Yager, and had two representa- tives from each high school class. Joe Bailey was Presifleni, Tom Piner was Vice-President, and Bill Schneemann, Secretary. Kay Kirby and John Greer represen- ted the Seniors, Marion Mock and Scott Hickman, the Juniors, Jane Adams and Charles Garlitz, the Sophomores, and Betty Walley and Ronnie MeMullan, represented the Freshmen. This . . . High School Student Council Each of our four student councils is a stepping stone to the next. In North Elementary and South Elementary the fundamentals of a smooth functioning Stu- dent Council are learned. In Junior High we use our know how to really get a voice in the rules, activities, etc. of our school. ln High School, the Student Council selects the annual staff and decides much about school elections, in additionto giving the administration and faculty the stu- dents' viewpoint on various problems. This year the Student Council finished the constitution and made a name for itself as dance sponsors, to give the High School recreation, but partly, they admit, just to make money.

,.wm.:w, .. V iff 1 After the work, yelling and voting of try-outs, Kay Kirby, Reta Ballinger, Alena Faye Powers and Betty Walley emerged vic- torious as our cheerleaders. Then one day at pep-rally, Wayne Kuykendall helped the cheerleaders teach us a new yell Big Chief Wahoo. We liked Wayne so much that he became our fifth leader and Wahoo one of our favorite yells. Lion Boosters Drum Majorette, Marion Mock and twirlers Barbara Fields, Jeannene Thompson, Shirley Kost and Sandra Brewer led the band in their striking purple-velveteen-and-gold- braid uniforms. We're especially proud of Shirley who won a Division I rating in the Regional Twirling Contest at San Angelo. .st 'Q 1 jx H, f ,fir -1 A . rv af, A54 Bea uf' 7571,
