GARLITZ. AND PINER, CO-CAPTAINS OF THE '52 FOOTBALL TEAM, SHAKE HANDS At the end of the football season, the Lions voted by secret ballot for their captains for 1952. The results of this election were kept a deep, dark secret until the announcement was made at the banquet. Tom Piner and Charles Garlitz were chosen to lead the Lions in '5Z. Tom is a junior, has lettered in the backfield for three years, and was one of the tri- captains this year. Charles is a sopho- more, has lettered for two years, played various positions inthe line and this year was named to the second all-district team. FOOTBALL MR. BRAY COMMENDS THE 1951 TEAM ON THEIR Mothers of the team members did most of the planning and work that made this year's football banquet such a big success. The place cards, which were made by Clay Adams, were caricatures ofthe team members, and all the guests received leather autograph books in the shape of footballs. These gota bit battered before the evening was over from the countless names each collected. The speeches were good, the jokes funny, the food delicious--Mr. Pelto Said the apple pie and cheddar cheese was his One Touch of Minnesota. And of course there were the words that have become OHS folklore, which were uttered by Kootsey Smith when the boys were asked to introduce their dates: I brung myself.
