We were disappointed in our assemblies this year, because we didn't have enough ofthem. The bestones were put on by the Dept. of Public Safety and by the Band. The North Elementary School and the Junior High School p r e s e nt e d t he room winners of the Story Telling and the Declamation Contests on April Z4 in the High School Auditorium. Winners in each grade were selected by out-of-town judges. In the Junior High School, the boys and girls did not compete against each other, according to Inter- scholastic League rules. ln the North Elementary School, the competition was opento bothboys and girls. Mr. Brock Jones, President of the School Board, presented ribbons to the winners of these contests and to the winners of the spelling contest, which were held previously in the North,Elementary School. The Student Council blew its last dollar ona , wonderful dance that began our Christmas vacation. HighSchoolers, Junior Highers and Exes danced to the music of Johnny Keating in a Christmas fairy- land of tinsel and make-believe snow. Everyone had loads of fun and all agreed that it was one of the best dances O. H.S. had had in many a year. . . .around the Christmas Tree Scott, Marion, Tom Jane and Betty finish decorating the tree. I . . .dancing in the dark Christmas Vacation Begins . . .
