The North Elementary School and the Junior High School p r e s e nt e d t he room winners of the Story Telling and the Declamation Contests on April Z4 in the High School Auditorium. Winners in each grade were selected by out-of-town judges. In the Junior High School, the boys and girls did not compete against each other, according to Inter- scholastic League rules. ln the North Elementary School, the competition was opento bothboys and girls. Mr. Brock Jones, President of the School Board, presented ribbons to the winners of these contests and to the winners of the spelling contest, which were held previously in the North,Elementary School. We were disappointed in our assemblies this year, because we didn't have enough ofthem. The bestones were put on by the Dept. of Public Safety and by the Band. We hope that next year we will have more and better assemblies. K A x 'sg-4' , 'm A grim statistic anyone of us could become, a list oftraffic deaths in our area during the first few months of 1952. These lectures by the High- way Patrol, sometimes accompanied b y f i l m s , brought realization of what teenacide is and the serious- ness ofthe situation on our highways.
