,.wm.:w, .. V iff 1 After the work, yelling and voting of try-outs, Kay Kirby, Reta Ballinger, Alena Faye Powers and Betty Walley emerged vic- torious as our cheerleaders. Then one day at pep-rally, Wayne Kuykendall helped the cheerleaders teach us a new yell Big Chief Wahoo. We liked Wayne so much that he became our fifth leader and Wahoo one of our favorite yells. Lion Boosters Drum Majorette, Marion Mock and twirlers Barbara Fields, Jeannene Thompson, Shirley Kost and Sandra Brewer led the band in their striking purple-velveteen-and-gold- braid uniforms. We're especially proud of Shirley who won a Division I rating in the Regional Twirling Contest at San Angelo. .st 'Q 1 jx H, f ,fir -1 A . rv af, A54 Bea uf' 7571,

THE AYER STAFF Here the 1952 Ayer staff takes time off from its work to pose for the photographer. All seemed pleased about the outcome of their year's work on the annual. To build a yearbook--a new and novel experience. Compiling on these pages extra specialuthings whichmake our school individual and more dear to us than any other, was our task. Each of us planned layouts, drew and wrote for this remembrance of our sc:hool...in 1952. Joe Bailey was editor, Jane Adams served as assistant editor. Kay Kirby was business manager, with Graham Childress as her able assistant. Jean- nene Thompson drew our cover design, and Wanda Carden was typist. Other members ofthe staffwere Betty Walley, Marion Mock, Bill Schneemann and Wayne Kuykendall. Miss Mildred North was our sponsor. Our Publications The I..ion's Roar is published , weekly by the students of the Jour- nalism class ofthe I-IighSchool under the direction of Miss Mary Koepp, and is printed by the Ozona Stock- man. The editor of the paper this yearwas Marion Mock. Norris Po- gue wrote the features, Wayne Kuy- kendallwas sports writer, and Doris West was responsible for society news. Other contributors were Jane Adams, KennethBledsoe, Bill Gillit and Kc nneth Phillips. ii. -an ,,M,..-, The L.ion's Roar staff visits the Ozona Stockman office to see how their copy finally gets into print.
