He has served faithfully and earnestly in the capacity of student president, trying as best he could to unite the college stu- dents into one group all striving for Ozark Wesleyan and the advancement of the col- lege rather than for personal gain. In this, he has certainly set a good personal example before the students. He has striven always to be fair and just and to present matters squarely before them. We feel that, as the first student presi- dent in the college, he has shown that the organization is highly worth-while. Be- sides this oifice, Harry has held many hon- orable positions in the college during his four years here. He is president of the senior class this year, was a member of the 1928 foot-ball team, was an officer in the Philomathean Literary Society and is a member of the Ozark Wesleyan Choir. He is an all-around good sport. Here's long-continued success to our first student's choice. Good luck, Harry. . J is :J ' i . , v.'X. 'ARTHUR T. MITCHELL Vice President Arthur T. Mitchell, as vice-president of the Student Council, has undoubtedly shown his ability as a leader. During the absence of the president on two different choir trips, Bob guided the wavering ship of sta.te through several stormy seas and by various perilous rocks. Bob is one of these level-headed fellows who does what he feels to be right, no matter whose toes he steps on, and yet he makes the fel- low who is hit the worst really look up to him and admire him for his courage. He looks at a question not only squarely but from both sides and behind and only gives his opinion after carefully weighing all ev- idence. Having been a scout leader for several years, he seems to have thorough- ly mastered the scout laws of preparedness, courtesy, helpfulness, honesty-and all the rest which are so much a part of a true scout. He is well-developed in all the lines of school-activity, being an honor student, an athlete as well as being a member of several societies and on the staff of the two student publications in the school. Yes, we think he is worthy of any and all honors conferred on him. QQ!-x-1--r++-w-1-+4-1-4+ -N Q- 1929 -3 4-+++0+++++++++++6'P+4'+i'+'P++4 P'l i'g Page Ninety Two

She averages an E in her scholastic work, which qualified her for an assistant in the mathematics department of the college. Also Senior representative on the Student Council. O. W. C. has claimed Ida as a student for three terms and summer school. Every- one will miss Ida's ready smile as she de- parts from the portals of O. W. C. this year. A better girl never crossed the threshold of this college. .,- . 7 . A..-Qi--1 A -T 11: ffih 7 '- , 5.12 ' + - A . . v s - -1 34 ,.,... ,... .- . ,Q . . 'G' ' x X RUSSELL MCCAULEY Early in October, 1927, Russell was appointed assistant business manager. In March of the second semester during the absence of the business manager. Russell as assistant manager assumed full respon- sibility of the business manager and suc- ceeded so well that he was given the position in his own name throughout the rest of the semester and was the agency by which the college paper was again published on a paying basis. Russell is an efficient student who has a smile, an announcement to make and time for a'chat. W hisilcr The Wesleyan Whistler is the student publication of Ozark Wesleyan Collegeg the paper has been an interesting and entertaining piece of information and reading material this year. The paper contained a variety of material, among the most noticeable were poems and feature articles written by Letha Allendorf, sister of the Editor. The staff under the direction of the Editor and Associate have edited a paper worthy of the school's name. The paper is published in the college print shop and ,each student is entitled to an issue through his Activity ticket. The Editor and Business Manager are elected by the student body. The Business staff have done excellent work in that the paper is put on an advertising paying basis. The success of the Whistler is largely due to the support of the Carthage business men. Some of the most noticeable issues were the issue of November 19 which featured the dedication of King's Field on Homecoming day and the trip through the Ozarks by some of the science students. The Christmas issue was printed in green and. red ink. Papers which played forth big headlines were red letter papers. such as the Welcome issue September 10, containing President King's pictureg and Ashlar sale, January 14. The best balanced papers according to head line and article placement were as in order mentioned: March 11, a picture of the Ozark Wesleyan Orchestra headed the front pageg January 21, had a two column styled front page, other pages of merit were February 11, September 24, and March 18, a regular scandal sheet. The Whistler was first published in the fall of 1922, every year the paper has im, proved. Here's to the success of the succeeding Whistler's, a bigger and better paper. .5 .'. .4. .I 4. 'Z' 4.
