The purpose of the organization is to promote the general welfare of the college. The organization known as the Student Council has been eiicient in this, its first year of function. It is now recognized as an indispensable organ in the future of the college. The Council is indebted to the faculty for their influence and help, the students for their cooperation and to Dean Hohn for his untiring aid and assistance. The president, vice president, secretary and two members at large are elected by the student body at a poll election. The Freshmen and Sophomore classes have two representatives elected by each class, The Juniors and Seniors have three representatives elected in the class elections. He has served faithfully and earnestly in the capacity of student president, trying as best he could to unite the college stu- dents into one group all striving for Ozark Wesleyan and the advancement of the col- lege rather than for personal gain. In this, he has certainly set a good personal example before the students. He has striven always to be fair and just and to present matters squarely before them. We feel that, as the first student presi- dent in the college, he has shown that the organization is highly worth-while. Be- sides this oifice, Harry has held many hon- orable positions in the college during his four years here. He is president of the senior class this year, was a member of the 1928 foot-ball team, was an officer in the Philomathean Literary Society and is a member of the Ozark Wesleyan Choir. He is an all-around good sport. Here's long-continued success to our first student's choice. Good luck, Harry. . J is :J ' i . , v.'X. 'ARTHUR T. MITCHELL Vice President Arthur T. Mitchell, as vice-president of the Student Council, has undoubtedly shown his ability as a leader. During the absence of the president on two different choir trips, Bob guided the wavering ship of sta.te through several stormy seas and by various perilous rocks. Bob is one of these level-headed fellows who does what he feels to be right, no matter whose toes he steps on, and yet he makes the fel- low who is hit the worst really look up to him and admire him for his courage. He looks at a question not only squarely but from both sides and behind and only gives his opinion after carefully weighing all ev- idence. Having been a scout leader for several years, he seems to have thorough- ly mastered the scout laws of preparedness, courtesy, helpfulness, honesty-and all the rest which are so much a part of a true scout. He is well-developed in all the lines of school-activity, being an honor student, an athlete as well as being a member of several societies and on the staff of the two student publications in the school. Yes, we think he is worthy of any and all honors conferred on him. QQ!-x-1--r++-w-1-+4-1-4+ -N Q- 1929 -3 4-+++0+++++++++++6'P+4'+i'+'P++4 P'l i'g Page Ninety Two
