HSHLHR S FRHNK B. MOON HIS is Dr. Frank B. Moon, Coach of football and basketball in Ozark Wes- leyan. the man who produced the two best teams in these major sports that N X L O. VV. C. has ever had. Taking a bunch of football players., most of whom had never played together, he produced a team that was known throughout four states for its quality of play. Likewise, taking a bunch of basketball shooters in the same condition, he made a real basketball team, one that was transformed from mediocrity to sensationalism. What was the secret of Doc Moonis success? Teaching his men to use their brains as well as their brawn. this followed by the old Wesleyan fighting spirit, the kind of spirit that admits no defeat, even in the face of odds did the business. The fighting fini- shes of the Lions in game after game was typical of the kind of stuff Doc Moon imparts. The next time you walk down the streets of Carthage, look for a big, husky, robust specimen of the genus homo of twenty-eight summers. Look for a clean looking. clear eyed chap who seems to be a man who can look the world in the eye: a man who ra- diates personality. Look for a man who for four years played center on his high school football team in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Look for the man who for four years was regular center on the team representing Kirksville Osteopathic College, the man who was the mainstay of the line on that team, which in two of these four years was undefeated, and in each of the other two years lost only two games: a team that in 1924 was scored on once and won-eight consecutive games. Look for the man who played guard on the Kirksville basketball team for two years, and who represented that school on the track in weight throwing and the broad iump. Look for the fellow that in 1918 served his country in France., and while doing it helped the 35th Division play football. Look for the man that received athletic training in college under such men as Dr. R. R. Sermon, all-American halfback in 1919, and Dr. Ned Adams of Ohio State Uni- versity. Look for the man who before taking the job as coach of VVesleyan's teams wanted to make himself as fit as possible for the task. So he went to Alonzo Stagg, fanious coach of Chicago University to learn about coaching football: to Dr. F. C. fliogj Allen of the University of Kansas to learn more about basketballz, to Harry Gill of the University of Illinois to learn about track, and Fred M. Walker of the New York Giants for baseball. 'Look for the man who transformed football and basketball in Ozark Wesleyan College from second class to the top in junior college athletic circles. Look for the man whom everybody in O. VV. C. hopes will be back on the firing line next fall to lead the fighting Lions of the Royal Blue and Old Gold to even greater heights than they have achieved before. when you find this man, you will have found Dr. Frank B. Moon, Coach of Ozark Wesleyan College for 1925-26. page ninety ass rwfgtgwggtgaamgg sagma sewsaewsaewa +5 mae : A . lil if P ,s ll CE? Q ,U Qt TT air 4,4 69? vi 4? sl ca: R
