T is the purpose of the Club to foster interest among its members in the finer .2 I aspects of literature. science, art, and history. as did Dr. Samuel Johnson in g gil? his circle of literary friends of England during the seventeenth century. The club was organized in the fall of l924 by a group of young men inter- jx? ested in scholarly fields of human endeavor, with Professor Wood and Professor Walter pl as advisors. Y 6171s Johnson Club is purely a discussion club.. rendered as near as is possible free ii from the undue formalism with which many organizations are hampered. As a discus- clip sion club it is necessary that the membership be limited, ln this case no more than fit- W lp '45 A teen., including the faculty members can belong to the club.
