Local functions and those provided through membership in the Student District Art Association enhance the opportunities ofthe club. Members participated in such activities as field trips and the annual SDA.-X convention. Money-making projects were also a part of Art Club life as members worked to tiriance their trips. National Forensic League Plans Active Year Ozark s speech and debate contestants display their trophies received at the Republic league tournament. National Forensic League began the year with the idea in mind to make the honorary organization a more ac- tive part of school life. To achieve this purpose an NFL Recognition Day was held October 23. The club also won second place with their float entry in the Homecoming Parade. Participating in interscholastic contests the squad represented OHS well by bringing home many honors and trophies. Offi- cers elected for the 69-70 school year were Debby Deidiker president' Linda Grubaugh vice-president' Sari McDan- iel secretary-treasurer' Cheryl Parson historian' and Pam Genteman student council representative. il Ozarkamo Artist Bill Albert, assisted by Art Instructor Faunlee Harle, puts finishing touches on the new Ozarkamo crest as Yearbook Co-editor Debbie Hopkins, Editor Linda Hawkins, Adviser Marcelene Middleton look on. Journalism students enjoy dancing at the Spring Dance, with the crown- ing ofthe Ozarkamo', King and Queen sponsored by the class. Journalists Photograph Memories Under the guidance of Mrs. Marce- lene Middleton, the Journalism De- partment enjoyed a very fruitful and j productive year. For the first time, Ozarkis newspaper, the OHS Ob- server, was printed at the Christian County Republican by Mr. John Pile. Wearing a distinguishing yellow color, the newspaper is printed on full-size news print every two weeks. Ozark's yearbook makes its appearance this year with a new name, Ozarkamo '70g a crest designed byOHS artist, Bill Albertg and the theme Peace Seven members of the OHS staff attained the honor of joining Quill and Scroll, the International Honorary Society for high school journalists. Membership is a distinct honor and is reserved for those outstanding publi- cation staff members who meet the basic requirements established by the Society and its local chapters.
