i .533 ,SF os Principal RICHARD E. NODELL -X. The Eyes are Windows of the Soul John Greenleaf Whittier All of us recognize beauty. Your Oysterette emphasizes outward niceties of our campus where you've been for some years. Appearance usually indicates inner attitude - neat homes and carefully tended grounds denote self respecting and prideful owners. The open window often proves inner neatness and good order, too. Like buildings, people have outer shells and grounds which may reveal the inner per- son. By behavior, and often through the eyes, the picture is made even more complete to chance observers. What picture passes through the windows 'of your soul? Do you meet each day with a grin, each person with a smile and greeting as you pass along hall or street? Smiles beget smiles and friendship, too! Can you be pleasant even when troubled, or are you one who challenges all about you, one who suffers imagined hurt from fancied whisperings or rumors? Have you learned to meet these with a laugh? Have you learned to let the happiness of living each day shine through your eyes, to let this inner glow greet each person whom you contact? A comelylouter self may bring you distant admiration, but a happy inner you will bring you friends. What impression on others do your eyes make for you? lnner brightness, spreading out and all about you, pictures your true self for those who want to know you best. Beauty is said to be skin deep, cultivating the inner beauties of self respect and friendliness should be part of your plan of living. The look in your eyes will do the rest. ' sei
