The true standard of quality is seated in the mindp those who think nobly are noble. Isaac Bickerstaffe- The Maid of the Mill The Class of 1962, with respect and affec- tion, dedicates this yearbook to Helen R. Blank, who for twelve years was our school librarian. For us who had the privilege of knowing her, the memory of her graciousness, her kindness, and her dignity will always en- clure. We were impressed by her unselfish- ness and by her lofty concept of duty. An inspiration and guide for our youth, a model of grace and integrity, Miss Blank bore the indelible mark of quality, which now and in the days to come will serve us as an inspira- tion and as a goal. i Dedication

The first golden rays of sunlight are illuminating the sky in hues of lemon and rose. Suddenly the trees are chang- ing from mere silhouettes against a gray background to stately champions of beauty, glis- tening with animation. The waves on the waters ol' the harbor are sparkling in a crystal- line array as they find their way into shore. All of life is awakening with new vigor and vitality as it prepares to meet the challenges of a new day. As youth living in the United States of America, we are blessed with the opportunity of greeting each new day, not as a drudgery, but as an event to search out the secrets of life and enioy them. We are not familiar with severe poverty and disease. We do not know what it's like to sleep amidst the filth of a contaminated street, nor do we know how it is to lack enough energy to get up from that crude abode when daylight strikes. Let us then be thankful for what we have, and let us use our gifts wisely. For we, who are not blinded by squalid conditions, have an easier time seeing the sun shed its radiance upon the earth. Our undulled senses and souls can become aware of the magnificence of the universe anytime we lift up our hearts and minds to receive the splendor of all Creation. Lf Editor-in-Chief 3 li
