B. H. S. band, morally boosted by the purchase of new uniforms, enjoyed a most active and successful year. Its social engagements started with the playing of a concert at Mineola Fair, after which came the participation in all the U. B. football games. After football, preparation for the midwinter concert took up most of the hand,s time. However, preceding this main concert, three others were given in surrounding schools. Basketball season saw the band do something unusual in the way of high school bands when it played for the school championship playoffs. Local social re- quests, among which were the Memorial Day exercises, took up a great deal of other spare time. The season was wound up with the spring concert and finally commencement exercises. Anne Addazio Mia Johnson Pat Capri Mary Villani The band boasted a larger majorette corps which put on quite a show throughout the year. Indi- vidual musicianship was shown by some in state festi- vals and contests, and shown by all in the annual music week at the school. Something new in the band was the arrival of Mr. Luckenbill's assistant, the capable and well-liked Mr. Workman. Ban The Senior Chorus has been very active this year as well as taking part in the annual Xmas program, it helped to make the Spring concert very enjoyable. This was held during Music Week. Barbara Ingram Norma Bifuleo 0I'lIS Mary Alice Federoff Among school activities the High School Chorus has greatly increased in numbers since Mr. Will, the director, has taken over. The boys and girls used to meet a few times a week for rehearsals, but Mr. Will decided to improve this and started weekly classes. With this new method, a boy or girl can earn a full credit at the end of the year. This is just one of the many things that are going to be put into use, so that in the future we may look forward to having our chorus give operettas and other singing performances. Without Mr. Will, how- ever, this wouldn't be possible. A vote of thanks to Mr. Will for his interest, understanding and unlimited patience. '47 '!
