You have received your high school education during one of the world's most critical periods. It is felt that you have learned that an average performance with ' just enough to get by' is not enough on the home front or the war front. How well you have done is now indicated by the scholastic standards you have maintained. Upon graduation, you enter your greatest and most challenging test of Life. You may be facing an era of Peace. Peace will not come through docu- ments subscribed to by nations, but, rather, its achievement must lie in the hearts of all people throughout the world. The wish is not enough, fulfill- ment will come only with a full understanding of the issues involved and a determination to do something about themg not merely the usual self- justilica- tion but a sincere desire to see justice done. If more of us would be willing to live for our country, perhaps fewer would be required to die for it. Sincerely, LEON DEMING, Superintendent of Schools. To the members of the Class of 1945: Congratulations on being the first in Oyster Bay High School,s history to turn out a class book. Your effort would have taken a broader scope had not present world conditions made it mandatory otherwise. Continue your education in your daily lives, carefully sifting the positive from the negative until that time when this passage from the world's greatest book shall apply to you. Well done thou good ancl faithful servant, thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things, enter thou in to the joy of the Lord. GLENN G. I-IALLADAY.
